Molinos de Viento de Consuegra

At the top of Cerro Calderico, 12 windmills stand in a row beside the medieval fortress, evoking the famous scene from Don Quixote battling giants. Most of these windmills date back to the 16th century, and some, like “Sancho,” still preserve their original machinery and function as museums showcasing the traditional milling process. Excellent day trip from Madrid to Toledo
I had a fantastic day tour from Madrid to Toledo including the beautiful Consuegra windmills. Our guide Adrian was very nice and made the journey comfortable and enjoyable by sharing historical and fun facts. The local guide in Toledo was absolutely amazing. Knowledgeable, passionate, and brought the city’s rich history to life. The windmills offered stunning views and a perfect photo stop. Everything ran smoothly and punctual. Highly recommend this tour.

This trip was amazing. Our guide was wonderful, kind and knowledgeable. The trip was all inclusive of Toledo and the Windmills. There was plenty of time for leisure and the guided activities.

Such a great day!!
Originally I had a different tour in mind but due to availability I found this one and was super glad I did. The day could not have been better planned or paced, The small group tour was worth the money. Adrian was a fantastic guide full or warmth and enthusiasm. He clearly loves working with people and the places we went to. I very much appreciated that he used what's app to coordinate the pick up which made communication super easy throughout the day. First off the tour started out with a pick up from my hotel which seems unique to this group tour operator. Others I looked into made you go to a pick up location. It makes logistics that much easier. The other two people in the group were from Mexico and Adrian did a great job splitting his time between Spanish and English. I never felt left out and was very impressed with how he managed to keep us all engaged. As we headed out of the city we got some info on Madrid and the surrounding area.. Once we arrived we were handed off to a Toledo specific tour guide who was also very friendly and knowledgable. We started from the main square and ending at the cathedral where we met up with Adrian again who gave us tips on were to eat. As part of the city tour we stopped at a sword factory, sweets shop and jewelry shop. I did not feel pressured to buy at these establishment and was especially interested in the sword workshop. Supper cool to learn about what makes Toledo steel unique. We had a few hours on our own to explore. I had a quick lunch and went back to the sweets shop for some gifts then wandered the streets of Toledo. It is such a romantic city where you feel like you are stepping back in time. So full of nooks and crannies to explore. My only regret was I did not leave enough time to properly visit the cathedral. I did go in but was rushed and hit the highlights. It was a truly spectacular gothic church full of amazing art. The scale was super impressive. We met back at the car and headed to the windmills stopping off at a look out point over looking Toledo for a photo op. Adrian asked on the way home which we liked better Toledo or the Windmills and honestly I could not choose. It was such fun to see with beautiful country side and be in the land of Don Quixote. The windmills were living history as some are still operational and able to mill wheat into flower. The mechanics of the them are impressive and it's nice to see that they are being preserved. We had plenty of time go walk around and take in the views. Then we headed back to Madrid. All in all I can't recommend this tour with Adrian enough. I really felt like I was being toured around by a friend the whole day.
