Awful experience
Bought this tour because it hit all the places we wanted to see. Once we downloaded the audio it was over 9 hours long, the booking page said approximately 4 1/2 hours. Then when we went to actually do it, I wasn’t even able to get the audio to work. I spent over 30 minutes trying to get the audio to play for me so I can start me tour- that was now 9 hrs long. Eventually my formed and myself ended up buying a different tour.
Response from the operator: This review contains misleading information that does not accurately represent our service or the clear instructions provided to all customers. Accuracy is essential when sharing experiences that affect other customers' decisions. Our tour description clearly states this is a comprehensive self-guided audio experience covering 23 major Madrid attractions. The "approximately 4½ hours" refers to selective touring - not listening to every single audio segment consecutively. As explicitly stated in our booking information: "you can choose where to start and finish according to your preference" and "feel free to take breaks, spend more time at your favourite locations, or even split the tour across multiple days." Our additional information section clearly lists the essential requirements: "fully charged smartphone," "internet access," and "headphones/earphones." We provide detailed step-by-step instructions on how our audio system works, including two separate access links (SoundCloud audio content and Google My Maps interactive navigation). Additionally, we offer customer support specifically for technical assistance, as stated: "If you have any questions about accessing or using the audio guide, please don't hesitate to contact us." This review reflects a failure to read the provided tour information rather than a product deficiency. The traveler received exactly what was advertised - a comprehensive, flexible audio tour with clear technical requirements and support options. Instead of utilizing our customer service for the technical issue, they chose to purchase a different tour and leave misleading feedback. For future travelers, please read all provided information carefully before booking. Our self-guided tours offer exceptional flexibility and value, but like any digital product, they require basic smartphone functionality and following simple instructions. We remain committed to supporting customers who engage constructively with our clearly outlined processes. We encourage travelers to contact us directly with genuine concerns rather than posting inaccurate reviews that mislead other customers about our professional, well-documented service offerings.

Worst audio tour I’ve ever had
It was extremely hard to navigate. Information was very poor and long winded. You only have 48 hours to use it (which they don’t tell you). Horrible app links. I would highly NOT recommend it
Response from the operator: This review contains several inaccurate statements that misrepresent our clearly documented service. Our Madrid Self-Guided Audio Tour provides comprehensive information about 23 major attractions with detailed navigation instructions that are explicitly outlined in our booking confirmation. The reviewer claims the information was "poor and long winded," yet our tour features expertly crafted narration with compelling storytelling that brings centuries of Spanish history to life - this is precisely what distinguishes our premium audio experience from basic tourist information. Regarding navigation difficulties, our additional information section clearly explains our two-link system: a secure SoundCloud web link for audio content and a Google My Maps interactive link for location navigation. Each map point corresponds directly to a tour stop with linked audio guides, making navigation straightforward for travelers who follow the provided instructions. We also offer customer support specifically for technical assistance, stating "If you have any questions about accessing or using the audio guide, please don't hesitate to contact us" - a service this reviewer apparently chose not to utilize. The claim about a "48-hour limitation" is particularly misleading, as our tour description explicitly states that travelers can "split the tour across multiple days" and explore "at your own pace." Our self-guided format is designed for maximum flexibility, allowing visitors to use the content according to their schedule and preferences. The reviewer's technical difficulties appear to stem from not reading the clearly provided instructions rather than any product limitation. For genuine travelers considering this tour, we encourage reading all provided information carefully and utilizing our customer support when needed. Our comprehensive audio experience covers everything from the Prado Museum to the Royal Palace with professional narration and flexible access - exactly as advertised in our detailed tour description.

Don’t do it.
This was a waste of 9 Euros. Don’t to this. Online link and map never loaded. Disappointing. They only send an online link close to your “departure” time that you choose.
Response from the operator: This review contains inaccurate claims about our service delivery and ignores the clear technical requirements and support options provided to all customers. Our additional information section explicitly states the essential requirements for our digital audio tour: "fully charged smartphone," "internet access," and "headphones/earphones." We provide comprehensive step-by-step instructions explaining how our system works, including detailed guidance on accessing both the SoundCloud audio content link and Google My Maps interactive navigation link. When customers experience technical difficulties, we offer dedicated customer support as clearly stated: "If you have any questions about accessing or using the audio guide, please don't hesitate to contact us." The timing of link delivery is standard practice for digital tours to ensure content security and is clearly communicated during booking. Rather than contacting our support team to resolve the technical issue, this traveler chose to leave misleading feedback that misrepresents our professional service. Our self-guided audio tour covering 23 major Madrid attractions provides exceptional value and flexibility for travelers who follow the provided instructions and meet the basic technical requirements. For future customers, please ensure your device meets our stated requirements and don't hesitate to contact our support team if you encounter any technical difficulties. We remain committed to delivering quality experiences for travelers who engage constructively with our clearly outlined processes rather than posting inaccurate reviews that mislead other potential customers.

Read this before buying
I never got a link for the audio in my email so I could not use it while we were doing the walking. Later at night I decided to contact the tour provider and then I found the links there. Next day. We went again to try to use those and then I could not find the link again, I don’t think they know what they’re doing There are no proper descriptions that tell you how to find the links in description. It says that the links will be available for a few days, but I don’t know where to find it. Overall, I paid for it, but could never use it.
Response from the operator: This review demonstrates a failure to follow our clearly provided instructions rather than any deficiency in our service delivery. Our comprehensive booking information explicitly states: "On your selected date of travel, before your starting time, you'll receive an email containing two important links for your audio guide." We provide detailed step-by-step instructions explaining exactly how our self-guided audio tour works, including how to access both the SoundCloud audio content link and Google My Maps interactive navigation link. When the traveler contacted us, they successfully found the links, proving our system works as designed and our support is effective. The claim about "no proper descriptions" is inaccurate - our additional information section contains extensive details about how to access and use the audio guide, including what to bring (fully charged smartphone, internet access, headphones) and how the flexible touring system operates. We clearly state that customers can use both links to plan their route in advance and that the tour allows exploration at your own pace across multiple days. The traveler's inability to relocate the links the next day suggests a failure to save or bookmark the provided email content, not a system malfunction. Our customer support remains available to assist with any genuine technical difficulties, as stated in our booking information. However, this review reflects poor preparation and failure to follow clear instructions rather than service issues. Future travelers should carefully read all provided information, save important emails, and contact our support team immediately if assistance is needed rather than waiting until after their planned tour time.

Why this scores 39
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Madrid Self-Guided Audio Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Madrid.
How much does Madrid Self-Guided Audio Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $6 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Madrid usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Madrid Self-Guided Audio Tour take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Madrid is not rushed.
Is Madrid Self-Guided Audio Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 39 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3/5 across 11 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Madrid, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Madrid Self-Guided Audio Tour?
+
No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.
Is Madrid Self-Guided Audio Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Madrid Self-Guided Audio Tour?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Madrid can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Madrid and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Madrid Self-Guided Audio Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Madrid within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Madrid?
+
On Outty we rank every Madrid experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Madrid Essential: Historic Center, Plaza Mayor & Royal Palace, Madrid Walking Tour from Puerta del Sol to Retiro Park, Madrid Oscuro: Torture, Ghosts, Crimes and Legends. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Madrid?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Madrid?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
