    Amazing Experience

Excellent tours with very knowledgeable Guides. Lydia was our guide at Retiro Park and she was very good. Her explanation of key points was amazing. Benito was our guide at the Palace and he was just as good. He explained everything in detail with a bit of humor and his presentation was amazing. Can’t recommend this tour enough.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your review. We are glad you enjoyed your visit. We hope to see you soon!

Group size was far too large

The group was huge at around 50, far too big for a busy palace. The guide was knowledgeable, however due to lousy audio and size of group, it was difficult to hear most of the time.

Response from the operator: Good morning, the groups are maximum of 30 since the palace does not allow access to the monument to groups of more than 30 people so our groups never exceed that number, also we like to give quality to our services and with such a large number of people we could not. We are sorry if you were not satisfied with the visit, we hope to see you again soon and improve your experience with us. Thank you Regards

    They were 2 different...

They were 2 different visits in Spanish with 2 different guides.the complaint for both was that we were asked to be 15 mn before the start of the trip and the guides only turned up for the start;it was difficult to identify them without a sort of uniform (a top with the company name and a matching umbrella would do ) Now I’d like to comment on each one separately The morning one of the Retiro became a “private tour” as only us 2 turned up. Benito our guide was able to demonstrate his knowledge, was very helpful in answering our questions and made this tour the best one we’ve ever made. Unfortunately the Royal Palace visit booked for 3:30pm was disappointing due to the lack of organisation of the afternoon guide(not sure,Manuel or Manolo?) We didn’t know why we had to wait or had to leave a room without having looked at it .the different groups of tourists were getting mixed up and we struggled to keep concentration while fighting for some space and preventing for being pushed.Maybe it is the fault of the Palace organisation to admit so many people at once. We expect the standard of a paying guided visit to be as professional and organised as the freetours,if not more. Sorry we won’t recommend Viator to others and we’ll look for some reduced groups.this review shouldn’t be published because you can’t judge 2 different tours as one.good luck if you are considering making some changes.,one is to expect to write 1 review for 2 different tours -this won’t help the readers at all but I hope Viator will get some ideas.

Excellent Royal Palace Tour , No tapas

Alex Tour Guy , he was very attentive, knowledgeable and explained every stop in detail. The best of the whole experience. Tapas was not good experience, very small place, crowed and didn't have a seat for me. Restaurant was empty but I can't sit there.I finished leaving the place without having the "tapas".

Good way of exploring the City

The trip started at one of the entrances of Retiro park. Despite getting a bit lost on the way, Lydia kindly waited for me. A leisurely hour or so exploring Retiro park. Then an hours break before reconvening in front of the opera house outside the metro station. Larger group in the afternoon. Great tour of the palace. Be aware quite a few rooms you aren’t allowed to take photos. It’s a stunning palace and grounds. Lydia was a great guide and the trip was well organised. A well earned rest followed after lots of walking!

Response from the operator: Dear Joe_B thank you very much for your comments! The Retiro Park is a wonderful place and so is the Royal Palace! We are glad you enjoyed your experience with Lidia. Thank you, best regards

Madrid Royal Palace & Retiro Park Tour with Optional Tapas: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Madrid.

How much does Madrid Royal Palace & Retiro Park Tour with Optional Tapas cost?

    +

Prices start at $58 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Madrid usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Madrid Royal Palace & Retiro Park Tour with Optional Tapas take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Madrid is not rushed.

Is Madrid Royal Palace & Retiro Park Tour with Optional Tapas worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 15 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Madrid, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Madrid Royal Palace & Retiro Park Tour with Optional Tapas?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Madrid Royal Palace & Retiro Park Tour with Optional Tapas suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Madrid Royal Palace & Retiro Park Tour with Optional Tapas?

    +

Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Madrid can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Madrid and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Madrid Royal Palace & Retiro Park Tour with Optional Tapas start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Madrid within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Madrid?

    +

On Outty we rank every Madrid experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Madrid Essential: Historic Center, Plaza Mayor & Royal Palace, Madrid Walking Tour from Puerta del Sol to Retiro Park, Madrid Oscuro: Torture, Ghosts, Crimes and Legends. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Madrid?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Madrid?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
