Ideal for active, slightly competitive tourists

We had a few unplanned days in Madrid due to a flight cancellation. We looked into some of the bus/car tours but didn’t want to spend the day sitting. This game-based tour took us through a different part of the city than where we had already been. It involved a fair amount of walking, mostly on flat surfaces. The locations were generally easy to locate, with the exception of one which did not appear to exist any longer or may have been blocked by construction, but it didn’t impact the overall experience. We enjoyed learning about Madrid’s history without concern about someone else’s timetable, pausing for a park-side lunch. We bought passes for two but decided to work together on just one phone. For the price, it was a great value! The scavenger hunt alone took probably about 90 minutes at a casual pace.

Response from the operator: Thanks for turning an unexpected flight cancellation into such a fun adventure! I'm thrilled our Madrid Mystery Quest gave you the active, flexible experience you were looking for, complete with a park-side lunch break. I really appreciate the heads-up about the location that seemed to be missing or blocked by construction. We'll definitely have our local creators look into that immediately and update the route so it stays seamless for future explorers. It's great to hear you found it to be such a good value, even while teaming up on one phone. We'd love to help you discover another new city on your next trip—hopefully with no flight delays this time!

    Brilliant!!!

It was great way to see Madrid. We have been living here now for 3 years and learned so many new things about the city and revisited some places which we passed many times without knowing anything about them. My son kept going despite the fact that it took us around 3 hours. It was captivating for him, loads of fun and history he never heard before and putting a bit of knowledge like a puzzle together bit by bit. We are going to take another one in Madrid, cannot wait!

Response from the operator: Thank you for the review. We’re really glad the Madrid Mystery Quest helped you discover new stories and see familiar places in a new way, and that your son stayed engaged the whole time. We’d love to have you back for another adventure in Madrid.

    A little disappointed

The route was too localized to one place. It would be nice to have a more precise prior description of where the activity takes place. We stopped at the 3rd stage

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry this quest felt too focused in one area. We will update the description to make the location scope clearer for future players. If you'd like to try another quest, please reach out and we’ll be happy to help.

    Fix this…It can be Great

Good idea but a lot of bugs. System needs to be streamlined with direct links to games. Received wrong game. Directions to each point need to be much more detailed; less story, more directions. Did get us out and about tho. We did learn some interesting things about Madrid. More of those and no inane story and this would be an excellent experience.

Response from the operator: Thanks for sharing your experience! We’re glad you enjoyed discovering Madrid, and we really appreciate your feedback about the directions and game flow. We’re working on improving clarity and streamlining access so future players can enjoy the adventure more smoothly. Hope you’ll give it another try next time you’re in the city!

Madrid Mystery Quest: Self-Guided Surreal Adventure Game: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Madrid.

How much does Madrid Mystery Quest: Self-Guided Surreal Adventure Game cost?

    +

Prices start at $7 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Madrid usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Madrid Mystery Quest: Self-Guided Surreal Adventure Game take?

    +

Plan for about 0.8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Madrid is not rushed.

Is Madrid Mystery Quest: Self-Guided Surreal Adventure Game worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Madrid, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Madrid Mystery Quest: Self-Guided Surreal Adventure Game?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Madrid Mystery Quest: Self-Guided Surreal Adventure Game suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 0.8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Madrid Mystery Quest: Self-Guided Surreal Adventure Game?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Madrid can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Madrid and add a light layer if any part of the 0.8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Madrid Mystery Quest: Self-Guided Surreal Adventure Game start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Madrid within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Madrid?

    +

On Outty we rank every Madrid experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Madrid Essential: Historic Center, Plaza Mayor & Royal Palace, Madrid Walking Tour from Puerta del Sol to Retiro Park, Madrid Oscuro: Torture, Ghosts, Crimes and Legends. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Madrid?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Madrid?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
