1. St. George's Church

   The Madaba Map, also known as the Madaba Mosaic Map, is part of a floor mosaic in the early Byzantine church of Saint George in Madaba, Jordan. The Madaba Map depicts part of the Middle East and contains the oldest surviving original cartographic depiction of the Holy Land and especially Jerusalem.

2. Mount Nebo

   The summit of the Siyagha, 700 m above the Jordan Valley overlooking the NE part of the Dead Sea, is believed to be Mount Nebo, the place where Moses - the prophet revered by the three monotheistic religions - has been shown the Promised Land, and where he died. Today, Mount Nebo is an active Memorial, Franciscan monastery, and archaeological site that attracts visitors from the whole world, not only because of its historical and religious significance, but also because of the outstanding artistic value of the architectural remains and Byzantine mosaics that it preserves and displays.

3. The Baptism Site Of Jesus Christ

   Situated on the eastern bank of the River Jordan, nine kilometres north of the Dead Sea, the archaeological site consists of two distinct areas: Tell Al-Kharrar, also known as Jabal Mar-Elias (Elijah’s Hill) and the area of the churches of Saint John the Baptist near the river. Situated in a pristine natural environment the site is believed to be the location where Jesus of Nazareth was baptized by John the Baptist. It features Roman and Byzantine remains including churches and chapels, a monastery, caves that have been used by hermits and pools in which baptisms were celebrated, testifying to the religious character of the place. The site is a Christian place of pilgrimage.

4. Though it is not directly in the Dead Sea, this lake has become an increasingly popular destination for travellers due to its unusual and captivating colour, which ranges from a deep pink to a light lavender hue depending on the time of day and seasonal conditions. The Pink Lake’s distinctive colour comes from the presence of certain types of microorganisms, particularly Dunaliella salina, a type of algae. These algae thrive in the high salt concentration of the lake, which is similar to the environment of the Dead Sea. Dunaliella salina produces a pigment known as beta-carotene, which gives the water its reddish-pink tone. This pigment also provides the lake with a rich, vibrant appearance, particularly during the warm summer months when the algae bloom in abundance.

5. Salt Beach, located on the eastern shores of the Dead Sea, is a captivating destination renowned for its unique landscapes and therapeutic properties. The beach is characterized by sparkling white salt formations along its shoreline, creating a surreal and mesmerizing environment.
