Here, no frozen tasting or formatted speech. Sommelier Lyonnais by birth, your host gives you a real method to look, smell and analyze a wine, understand the pairings and choose a bottle with confidence, whether in the restaurant or at home. To make the moment even more lively, make room for pétanque, while one team plays, the other continues the tasting, and each alternates between balls and glass in hand. This mix of learning and play, in an authentic neighborhood cellar of the Plateau de la Croix-Rousse, creates a relaxed and warm atmosphere not found in standardized tourist tastings. A real Lyon break, thought like a good afternoon with friends.

Beyond a great wine tasting - it was a great experience
Outstanding! All six of us ranging in age from 30s to 60s had a great time enjoying local wines, cheeses and learning how to play pétanque with our wonderfully entertaining sommelier Louis. It was one of the best wine tastings I have ever experienced anywhere in the world. Louis is passionate, extremely knowledgeable and a really good pétanque player (right handed). If I ever find myself back in Lyon, I will be hitting Louis up for another one.
Response from the operator: Thanks for that brilliant message Ronald! Next time I won’t give you a chance and I’ll play with my right hand 😂

Unforgettable Wine & Cheese Tasting in Lyon with Louis
Our tasting experience with Louis was exceptional from start to finish. He thoughtfully paired outstanding local wines with a incredible selection of regional specialties, including phenomenal Rigotte de Condrieu, rich Saint-Marcellin, and perfectly aged 18-month Comté. The savory pairings—country terrine, pâté en croûte, and authentic Rosette de Lyon—were top-tier. Louis is exceptionally knowledgeable, welcoming, and passionate about the region's culinary heritage. He even provided detailed tasting sheets afterward so we could remember everything we enjoyed. A absolute highlight of our trip to France. Highly recommended!
Response from the operator: Thank you for this lovely message, I hope you’re having a wonderful trip!
