Fantastic trip, worth paying extra to go privately

We had a fantastic trip to Luxor yesterday from Makadi Bay. The private mini bus was waiting for us at hotel reception. We had a bit of a wait on the way at a security checkpoint so it was a long journey to get there. When we arrived the guide Hamy met us. First stop Karnak which was fantastic, lots of information from Hamy. It was quite busy. We then went for a lovely lunch at Paris Restaurant on the West Bank before visiting the Collosus of Memnon, the Valley of the King's. We paid $11 extra each to go in the tomb of tutankhamen which was small but worth it, then 3 other tombs which were included. Final stop after an alabaster shop was the temple of Hatshepsut which was also good. Watch out for the hecklers trying to sell tat and the guides at the temples who will try to tell you stuff but then want paying. The trip back was shorter with no security check.

Response from the operator: Dear Heather Thank you so much for your great review and feedback after your amazing Luxor Private day tour from Makadi with Private Tour guide. We are so happy that you had a great experience with us. We look forward to seeing you again next year with us for more great experiences Best regards Rana

Highly recommended day trip to Luxor!

We - a married couple with a 15-year-old daughter - booked a private day trip to Hurghada with a driver and our own German-speaking tour guide in a spacious SUV through the highly recommended company 'Get Taxi Hurghada' (boss Mina Adel - also recommended for airport transfers to/from Hurghada etc.). The day started early (departure from the hotel at 5:30 a.m.) and we returned around 8 p.m. Program: Luxor Karnak, lunch in a local buffet restaurant on the Nile, motorboat ride across the Nile, Memnon Colossi, Valley of the Kings with a visit to three tombs (and optionally the tomb with the mummy of Tutankhamun for 10 euros per person) and the mortuary temple of the pharaoh Hatshepsut. Travel time to Luxor approx. 4 1/2 hours, total cost for three people 290 euros (!). Very compact tour, but easily bearable in a new spacious SUV with air conditioning and chilled drinks (included).

Bad communication...

The only positive things were the experiences, the nice driver and the excellent tour guide, who ultimately helped us to optimize the tour. Extremely negative and unacceptable was the lack of clear communication between the countless "intermediate managers" and also from TripAdvisor. For example, the tour had to be postponed by a day because neither the driver nor the first manager had any knowledge of the tour. There were also discussions about the scope. The sailing tour was not provided... Booking on site or on another platform is preferable.

Response from the operator: Lieber Herr, Vielen Dank für Ihre Bewertung.

LUXOR ONE MUST SEE AND EXPERIENCE

LUXOR - A MUST SEE AND EXPERIENCE... If you have the time and desire do this tour over the day. Although the trip takes about 5 hours one way from Makadi Bay, it is worth it and set off at 5 in the morning. (One will see what the Nile means for agriculture) Expect to be back around 9-10 in the evening. Above all, you will see Karnak with the Temple of Luxor, the Valley of Kings, Tut An Kamon's tomb and his body's mummying, as well as Hatshepsut's tomb temple. Our guide was very knowledgeable (English) and told us things that no documentaries brought up. The only thing you can "complain about" is that the guide was forceful... In our day trip we had guide, lunch in the price. Boat trip from the east side of the Nile to the west side is added about 10 €. Booking the day trip is easy via the website "getyourguide" it is half price compared to the charter operator, you travel with. Remember to leave some tips for the guide and driver as a thank you for a good and rewarding day. One more little tip: If you've got time while you're in Luxor. Book a 3-day Nile to Aswan Dam cruise. They say it's an amazing experience. The bunters should be high class. Full board drinks will be added- price per night about 100€/100$. This is what we'll do next time...

Perfectly organized Luxor day tour with private guide

We had a fantastic private day tour from Makadi Bay to Luxor. At 5:30 am we were picked up in our hotel with a private van with driver and Dutch speaking guide Ahmed. On the way there is enough to see and you will pass all kinds of villages around the Nile. Arrived in Luxor around 9:30 am and was the first to visit Karnak Temple. Very impressive! Then drove a carriage through Luxor city to have us transported by Feluka (Egyptian sailboat) to the other side of the Nile at the end of the ride. Had a perfectly organized lunch there. Meanwhile, our private driver drove across the Nile and brought us a guide to Valley of the Kings (3 tombs visits), Temple of Hatshepsut and Colossi of Memnon. Visits to perfumery or papyrus are optional and absolutely not forced. The guide meanwhile tells (in very good Dutch) all about Egypt's rich history. Asking questions is never too much. Back in Makadi Bay around 8pm. We really enjoyed our private tour Luxor and were able to see a lot in a short time. In the future when visiting Egypt we will definitely book our excursions with Excursions Egypt again.

Response from the operator: Beste Mark, Bedankt voor uw boeking met Excursiesegypte.nl( Luxor Prive dag excursie vanuit Hurghada met Prive Nederlandstalige gids

Luxor Private day tour from Makadi with Private Tour guide: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Hurghada.

How much does Luxor Private day tour from Makadi with Private Tour guide cost?

+

Prices start at $90 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Hurghada usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Luxor Private day tour from Makadi with Private Tour guide take?

+

Plan for about 24 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Hurghada is not rushed.

Is Luxor Private day tour from Makadi with Private Tour guide worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 62 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Hurghada, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Luxor Private day tour from Makadi with Private Tour guide?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Luxor Private day tour from Makadi with Private Tour guide suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 2. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 24-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Luxor Private day tour from Makadi with Private Tour guide?

+

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Hurghada can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Hurghada and add a light layer if any part of the 24-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Luxor Private day tour from Makadi with Private Tour guide start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Hurghada within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Hurghada?

+

On Outty we rank every Hurghada experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Hurghada Diving Adventure one Day with two Dives Boat Trip, Hurghada to Cairo: Pyramids & Museum for First-Time Visitors, Scuba Diving Full Day Boat Trip W/Lunch & Transfer from Hurghada. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Hurghada?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Hurghada?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
