Khalil the tour guide will make your day so super and memorable

What's an incredible day. I had booked a private individualised tour direct with Marsa Alan tours, to go to Luxor with a pick up from Makadi bay. We had a whole mini bus, air-conditioned, for myself and my friend, and two drivers so that they could take turns driving as it's quite a long drive at 3 1/2 hours. They ensured that we had plenty of full rest stops for drinks and loos. The drivers were Hammad and Ahmed and we met our tour guide Khalil in Luxor. We had given the company our preferred itinerary in advance which was a mixture of particular historical sites, Karnak temple and valley of the kings, but also a number of very personal shopping experiences that we wanted. Khalil was incredible as a guide, here's a lifelong resident of Luxor and was able to share his very honest helpful opinions about the particular shops that we were looking at, and he steered us in the right direction every time. His knowledge of the history of the sites is formidable, but he also moves to pace set by us, so he didn't try and rush us and he checked with us different options about whether we wanted a bit of time by ourselves. Khalil recommended a particular restaurant for lunch that's very near the valley of the Kings and I have to say this was absolutely amazing, mezze foods on a set menu that were fresh, incredibly tasty and very suitable for both meat eaters and vegetarians. Lunch was included in the tour which knocked our socks off because it was such an incredible spread of food- fresh flatbreads, baba ghanous, tahini, tasty salad, a potato and tomato dish, roasted vegetable vegetables, pilaf as well as the meat options, you just pay for the drinks that you order and do tip the restaurant wait is because they are just brilliant. Thereare lots of fans in the restaurant to keep the worst of the heat by but it is so conveniently right around the corner of the of the Kings and Next to Howard carter's house. Khalil's English is impeccable and his knowledge is vast so do trust his advice. I am very happy that I managed to get fantastic high-quality souvenirs, not tourist tacky, cheap stuff but really quality souvenirs that I will keep for the rest of my life. Moreover, and this is really really important, Khalil and Hammad and Ahmed were all so kind in helping me as I have some vertigo and mobility issues, they were just heroes who made our day so memorable. I know that 3 1/2 hours is a long drive but believe me it's broken up with a rest stop and you can snooze on the bus. I would recommend anyone to book a private individualised tour with this company. I thought that we would be exhausted by the end of the day but Khalil and the team made it so manageable by being sensitive to our needs and going at our pace and when we'd just about managed all we could in the heat, they were very happy to make minor adjustments to the itinerary and then get us back home Home. I highly recommend following Khalil's recommendation for the alabaster shop, and please when you arrive there and the guy starts giving his short talk and it is only a short talk on how the alabaster is made and there are some guys spitting on the floor working on piece of alabaster, I beg you please have your phones out video it because it is amazingly entertaining, but also follow his recommendation for lunch and the papyrus shop, they are good quality items and lunch was delicious. I wish I'd taken Tupperware so I could've brought the bits home that we didn't eat. Please tip generously because these guys work so hard and they will make your day fantastic. We did this tour on day one after arriving last night and although it's an early start at 5 am I'm so glad we did it on day one because what a wonderful start to the holiday. I will definitely be going back to Luxor because I just love that town, but I have said to Khalil that I will definitely be getting in touch with Marsa Alam and asking for Khalil for another tour, he knows Luxor inside out. What a great team. Spend the money, it is worth every penny. He also recommended a boat trip on the Nile which my friend did and she thoroughly enjoyed it, but I was able to wait in the mini bus where there was a plenty full supply of cold drinks. Fabulous company with a wonderful team, thank you to khalil and Hammad and Ahmed, lovely lovely man. The world needs more men like this.

    Excellent trip!

Fantastic day trip with a friendly, knowledgeable, and patient guide (Khalil). The private tour allowed us to move at our pace and see everything we were interested in. This included a quick cruise on the Nile which was well timed in the heat. The guide and the drivers paid attention to detail and even ensured we were drinking enough water! Khalil also ensured I had memorable photos and he knew all the right angles which was a nice touch. The suggested lunch spot was excellent. Nothing was “pushed” on us and we felt relaxed and comfortable. Would highly recommend!

Luxor One Day Tour From Hurghada: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Hurghada.

How much does Luxor One Day Tour From Hurghada cost?

    +

Prices start at $202 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Hurghada usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Luxor One Day Tour From Hurghada take?

    +

Plan for about 1 hour from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Hurghada is not rushed.

Is Luxor One Day Tour From Hurghada worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 65 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 90 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Hurghada, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Luxor One Day Tour From Hurghada?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Luxor One Day Tour From Hurghada suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Luxor One Day Tour From Hurghada?

    +

Around 31 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Hurghada can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Hurghada and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Luxor One Day Tour From Hurghada start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Hurghada within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Hurghada?

    +

On Outty we rank every Hurghada experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Hurghada Diving Adventure one Day with two Dives Boat Trip, Hurghada to Cairo: Pyramids & Museum for First-Time Visitors, Scuba Diving Full Day Boat Trip W/Lunch & Transfer from Hurghada. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Hurghada?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Hurghada?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
