Luxor Day Tour from Hurghada

Wonder and insightful tour

We embarked on his journey bright and early at 5 am, departing from Hurgada and heading south to Safaga before traversing the desert to a coffee and pastry stop near Qena city. From there, we travelled down the Nile Valley, remaining on the east bank until we arrived in Luxor itself. Here, we met our Egyptologist, Hussein, who immediately took us into the Luxor Temple. The Luxor Temple was quite quiet as it was early morning, and Hussein provided us with talks on the various areas and their histories, pointing out many fascinating details that we thoroughly enjoyed. We then had free time to wander among the ruins and marvel at the wonders of history before us. It was simply breathtaking. Our next stop was a trip into the Valley of the Kings, where we were granted access to three of the tombs in the valley. With over 63 known tombs, there is plenty of choice, but we took our guide’s advice and visited the three he recommended. His knowledge proved invaluable, and we had a fantastic experience capturing some truly unique moments deep underground. After the Valley of the Kings, we were taken to the stonemasons’ village, where we received a demonstration of how the ancient stonemasons shaped rocks and artefacts found within the tombs of the Valley of the Kings. This was a fascinating insight, though it also included a visit to the obligatory souvenir shop. Hussein then took us for lunch to his family home, where we met his brother, his wife, and all the children of the family who live there. We were treated to a delicious traditional homemade Egyptian lunch, with all the food grown on the family’s farm or sourced directly from their cow in the garden. It was an amazing experience, very humbling, and it felt gracious to share some moments in the shade, enjoying a meal together. We then departed back to the West Bank of the Nile visiting another old ruined temple and it gained marvelling at the history that stood in front of us. The day concluded in the afternoon with a cruise up the River Nile, where we drifted idly on the tide, taking in the sights of the city around us before heading back to the minibus for the long journey back to Hurghada. As a private tour, I would highly recommend this. You have the opportunity to direct questions to an experienced Egyptologist who can explain things on your terms and in your language. We also found his advice and guidance on what to do and not to do at the various attractions we visited to be invaluable, something we wouldn’t have had if we had booked a group experience. The business owner we met at lunch and his brother were great guys, and I would wholeheartedly recommend this tour to you.

Luxor Tour

significance of the temple. From there we took a boat ride across the Nile and proceeded to the Valley of the Kings. Again Hassan advised us which tombs were the most spectacular so that we most from our visit. We visited a wonderful stone mason's factory next and it was spectacular. Beautiful hand crafted pieces of all shapes and sizes. We were then invited to Hassan s family home and met his family. They were so hospitable and welcoming. We ate with them and the food was first class. It was a privilege to meet local Egyptian people and get an insight into their lives. Often when on holiday you are whisked from sight to sight by tour companies and you never get to meet local people or learn anything about their culture. Eldeak Tours have definitely struck upon a unique way of combining both the traditional historical tour with something that teaches you about contemporary Egypt and benefits local people, not the big tour operators. From there we went on a boat trip up the Nile before being taken home by Yusef. All in all this was a wonderful and enriching experience. Really enjoyed the trip! 100% recommended - everything worked out so well

We absolutely enjoyed our daytrip to Luxor. Everything went so well, the private shuttle picked us up at our jotel in Hurghada and drove us comfortable to Luxor where we met out tourguide Hussein Eldeak. Hussein did an amazing job, showed us all of the importent sights, teached us so well about egypts history and even took us to his home where we got an amazingly tasty egypt food plattern. A wonderful day trip!

This tour was a chance to experience Egyptian culture past and present. We are pleased to say that we had a wonderful time with our very knowledgeable tour guide, Hussien. Hussien’s family were easily contactable prior to the tour and he was able to communicate effectively with us throughout the trip. Thoughtfully, he was able to rearrange our trip a little as we were initially delayed getting to Luxor from the coast. We started off visiting the Valley of the Kings and this site did not disappoint. With 3 tombs included in the ticket price we were pointed to three wonderfully well preserved catacombs. The place itself was otherworldly and just a surreal experience to be a part of such history. Next up, we visited a local stone mason in the workers village, a nice local addition and if we’d had more luggage space, it would have been lovely to have bought some of the wears. The staff were not pushy at all and hugely hospitable. Then we visited my favourite sight, Luxor Temple - again, Hussien was able to present us with a vivid and expressive tour of this site. Then, and what I think is most special about this tour, we visited Hussien’s family home in order to partake in lunch.The meal consisted of local fresh produce; filling and exceptionally tasty. Finally, we were taken to the Nile to experience a motorboat tour of the river at sunset. This was such a calming and quiet experience to just take in how important this river is to the livelihood of those living in Luxor. Our kind driver then returned us safely to our El Gouna accommodation around 9pm. Highly recommended tour if you are looking to take in some of the incredible history that Luxor has to offer while also sampling some local culture.
