Fantastic day in Kyoto and Osaka
I was traveling by myself at the end of a trip to Japan and wanted to see as much as possible in the area of Kyoto and Osaka. My neighbors had been here in the month of June and spent a day with Richard Hawkins and highly recommended him to me. They found him on triplelights.com and I found him there as well. My day with Richard was fantastic. He is the real deal. He really knows his stuff and is full of great information, great stories and great insights. He also knows all the little, hidden, local, out-of-the-way places for delicious local treats, great sake and interesting temples and shrines that are not on everybody else’s list. We saw so many different areas and neighborhoods in one day and I had a great time. Do yourself a favor and spend the day with Richard.
Response from the operator: Thank you Roxanne! It was a fund day and we jumped in it without an itinerary too! You are very adventurous and I appreciate you letting me drag you around to different places but there is so much to see! We hit two sites though!!! LOL Please come again and take care of yourself. I promise to find a great karaoke place next time too! Kind regards, Richard

Excellent tour
We went on a tour with Richard and had a fantastic time. We really enjoyed seeing Osaka and learning many new things about Japan and the culture. Richard was very knowledgeable and willing to share with us. Our boys especially enjoyed the tour and bonded with Richard - he was great with kids. We'd definitely go on a tour with him again. Thank you very much Richard!
Response from the operator: Thank you! I only bond really with people of my own age, so your boys and I were right on there! LOL Thank you for your kind comments and I hope you do get the chance to let me take you deeper into the life of Japanese and Japan in general. Kind regards, Richard

Excellent Private Tour
We spent a fascinating day with Richard touring the sacred and foodie sights of Osaka. Richard’s knowledge of Japanese history and mythology was impressive- more so than any other guide we used during our time in Japan. At the same time he made the tour a lot of fun. Loved the castle and watching Richard interact with locals at the several restaurants we visited.
Response from the operator: I think you mean you liked watching the local HARASS me! LOL I told you that Osaka was full of foodies and alcoholics. That is why I live here! LOL Hope you gained a little knowledge about Japan's culture, Shinto and Buddhism also! Please come again, we will go deeper!!!! Kind regards, Richard

Historical tour
Excellent day with Richard; he is a very good guide and is a lot of fun! Seeing the Osaka castle and temples along with a modern look at Osaka . Toni
Response from the operator: Thank you so much Toni! Sorry for all the walking but you actually can walk way faster than me!!! LOL Thanks for trying the different foods and for trying the sake!!!! I hope you enjoy the things you picked up and glad we hit the flea market, huh!? Once a month at best for that. We got lucky. Take care and fly safe! Kind regards, Richard

Sake, Temples, Food & Shrines
I booked Richard based on his excellent reviews and I am pleased to say all my expectations were well and truly exceeded. Richard developed a custom itinerary for a tour of Osaka that gave my partner and I the chance to soak up a little bit of the culture while also eating and drinking like locals. It is noteworthy that locals remarked that we’d managed to visit a number of key areas of Osaka in a relatively short time. Richard is a knowledgeable, likable guide who is able to anticipate your needs and adapt the tour to give you the best experience. As someone from a western culture, he’s uniquely positioned to highlight local customs and points of difference that are particularly interesting to visitors. Richard has a wicked sense of humour and is generous with his advice about places to eat and things to do while in the Osaka area. My partner and I had a fantastic time with Richard and I can recommend him without any hesitation. We will be booking another tour with Richard the next time we are in Osaka!
Response from the operator: Thank you Kieran for your review and it was an absolute pleasure taking you two around Osaka and learning about our city. We started out with history and culture, slid into sake and food and ended up at the market. I am so happy you had a good time and I hope to someday see you again. :)

Why this scores 59
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Local Osaka Day Trip with Native English Speaker in Japan 41 yrs!: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Osaka.
How much does Local Osaka Day Trip with Native English Speaker in Japan 41 yrs! cost?
+
Prices start at $45000 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Osaka usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Local Osaka Day Trip with Native English Speaker in Japan 41 yrs! take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Osaka is not rushed.
Is Local Osaka Day Trip with Native English Speaker in Japan 41 yrs! worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Osaka, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Local Osaka Day Trip with Native English Speaker in Japan 41 yrs!?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Local Osaka Day Trip with Native English Speaker in Japan 41 yrs! suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Local Osaka Day Trip with Native English Speaker in Japan 41 yrs!?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Osaka can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Osaka and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Local Osaka Day Trip with Native English Speaker in Japan 41 yrs! start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Osaka within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Osaka?
+
On Outty we rank every Osaka experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Hungry Osaka Street Food Tour:15 Tastings & 3 Drinks with a Local, Ultimate Osaka Walking Tour: Castle, Dotonbori, Gems & Lunch, Osaka Castle Walking Tour and Castle Tower Admission. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Osaka?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Osaka?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
