    5/5 Star Review

All around, this was a spectacular experience. The educational aspect and the service was above and beyond. Kevin, the marine guide, was informative and provide us with great opportunities to see whales and their calves coming to the surface. The two stops to the private islands along with the meal that he provided was nothing short of a well planned, thoughtful experience In full transparency, based off one of the reviews that was written about this tour, I almost did not book it because of how poor of an experience the reviewer had. However, I am glad that I did not let that stop me and proceeded with booking this tour because it exceeded my expectations and I would book it over again. This was certainly great value for the cost.

    Fantastic

The tour was an absolute highlight. The staff are all super friendly and try very hard to make the day an experience for everyone. Our tour guide Ana knew a lot about the whales and took excellent care of everything. On our tour, we saw both humpback whales and whale sharks and headed to two beautiful beaches. Both were almost untouched by humans and you could see all kinds of fish, crabs, and birds. The lunch was very good. It was even freshly grilled for us on the boat. There was snorkeling equipment, stand-up paddleboards, and a water hammock. The trip is definitely recommended!

    Great trip

A great tour, with a wonderful guide, attentive and helpful team, with fruits and lunch, and it was possible to see whales for a long time.

Had a great experience with our whale tour 🐋 We saw a mama whale with her baby swimming side by side each other and we came across a school of dolphins 🐬 Such a cool experience to share with my family! Relaxing experience on the boat and spending time on a few islands!

    Respectful whale watching

Booking and information was easy and clear. Unfortunately the Viator Ticket and emails didn't show the name of the provider,so this caused an issue checking in. Riva Charters Panama contacted me before the event, so i had a Whatsapp as well as useful information. The Riva team were pro active, helpful, friendly and made sure the checkin and boat selection was as I wanted. They also followed up afterwards to ensure I had a great trip. The trip out was good inspite of choppy waters and we saw basking sharks up close and the team kept us informed of the search for whales. We did see whales and the captain kept a respectful distance. At the beach for lunch, they provided good mask and snorkel, good food and refreshments and we saw more whales after lunch.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for such a detailed and wonderful review! We are thrilled to hear that our team's communication before and after the tour helped make your experience smooth and enjoyable. It is fantastic to know that you enjoyed the whale and basking shark sightings, the beach lunch, and the snorkeling gear. Our team and captain always strive to deliver a pro-active, safe, and respectful experience—both for our guests and the incredible marine life we visit. We appreciate your note regarding the Viator voucher details and will keep pushing to make that third-party check-in process as seamless as possible. It was an absolute pleasure hosting you in Panama, and we hope to welcome you on board again in the future!🏝️🇵🇦

Live whale watching in Las Perlas: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Panama City.

How much does Live whale watching in Las Perlas cost?

    +

Prices start at $170 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Panama City usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Live whale watching in Las Perlas take?

    +

Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Panama City is not rushed.

Is Live whale watching in Las Perlas worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 61 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Panama City, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Live whale watching in Las Perlas?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Live whale watching in Las Perlas suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Live whale watching in Las Perlas?

    +

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Panama City can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Panama City and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Live whale watching in Las Perlas start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Panama City within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Panama City?

    +

On Outty we rank every Panama City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Tour to a waterfall and Embera village with lunch included, Ocean to Ocean Combo: Canal Boat Safari, Agua Clara & Gatun Locks, Half day of Panama city and canal tour: shared and private. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Panama City?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Panama City?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.

What happens to Live whale watching in Las Perlas if the weather is bad?

    +

It generally runs rain or shine, so dress for the forecast in Panama City. Standard cancellation terms apply: free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start.

What do travelers say about Live whale watching in Las Perlas?

    +

Across 8 reviews averaging 4.6 out of 5, recurring themes include the guide, food and drink, knowledge and storytelling. Travelers single out the guide as the reason the experience works.
