About this experience

This five-hour tour will give you the opportunity to escape Lima for just a few hours and see the sights to the south of Lima. Watch as the local fishermen bring in their catch or repair their colorful vessels alongside of the Chorrillos Bay. Peruse a sea-side fish market and take in the views of the beautiful Costa Verde from atop the Morro Solar. Learn of Lima's largest Incan ceremonial complex and hike up a centuries old pyramid to observe where the Andes meet the Pacific. Although this is the perfect mix of local culture, archaeological history, and diverse countryside, you can make it even better by choosing the Dancing Horses Option. Add on a tour to a local hacienda and experience the unique Peruvian El Paso Horse along with typical dances and a deliciously prepared garden lunch. This option is great for children and adults alike with opportunities to ride the horses and snap memorable photos. If you have a full day, this is the one to choose!

    What you'll see and do

    1. Chorrillos

Our first stop will be to the largest fish market in Lima. If you want to walk among the locals, this is a great place to do so! See the local fishermen mending their nets and restoring their little boats, hear their stories and experience a bit of the sea. A great opportunity to feed the pelicans in the Chorrillos Bay is also available for those with children or who would enjoy interacting with wildlife.

      30 minutes here

    2. Morro Solar

Sitting at roughly 251 meters above sea level, you will get a wonderful view of the Pacific Coastline, Chorrillos Bay and the Shanty towns below. As we descend the Morro we will check to see if the famous "Fraile" is out. If so we will watch this monk jump from the immense seaside cliffs into the crashing waves below. Often overlooked on other tours, this can be the highlight of ours!

      45 minutes here

    3. Pachacamac Ruins

Head South down the Pan-American highway toward Lima's largest pre-Colombian archaeological site, the Ruins at Pachacamac. The complex, which extends for over 500 hectares, was once a very significant ceremonial site for the late Incan Empire. As you tour with a local guide you will have the opportunity to stretch out your legs a bit with a 20–30-minute hike up to the Temple of the Sun; allowing for some breath-taking views of the Lurín Valley and Pacific Ocean below (for those who prefer a tour with minimal walking you can admire the view of the temple from our private transportation.)

120 minutes here · Admission included

    4. Barranco

Barranco, known for its bohemian culture and festivities, is a great little place for a walking tour. Filled with street vendors, musicians and performers, you will note a different atmosphere from that of other districts we have visited throughout the day. Of special note will be the bright and colorful works of graffiti art you will see as you stroll along. We’ll see if you can “pass the test” as we cross the Bridge of Sighs and then take in the fantastic views of the Pacific with its beach life below. If you enjoy quaint handcraft shops, this is also the place to do a bit of shopping. Let your guide know at the beginning of the tour and we will arrange for some time to treasure hunt in this trendy neighborhood.

      75 minutes here

    5. If you are up for it, we will even take you to try the best artisan ice creams around. The selection set before you will be difficult, traditional gelato as well as local fruits that have been incorporated into delicious sorbet flavors will be among the many options to choose from… but don’t worry, sample requests are welcome!

Do not visit Lima without this tour guide

Charo & Coqui we're absolutely amazing. So kind, so intelligent, so insightful. We went to so many incredible places and really understood it because she explained the history of it. She recommended an incredible restaurant because we asked for the best ceviche.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your review, we appreciate you for taking the time to let the traveling world know about our top-selling Best of Lima tour. It was our pleasure to host your family, and we welcome you back any time in the future. Enjoy the rest of your trip!

A Well Conducted Enjoyable Tour Experience

Highly recommend this tour. Having already seen Centro Historico de Lima (Old Towne), this tour allowed us to see equally interesting 'outlying' areas of Lima. We very much enjoyed Marco's commentary as our tour guide with Jorge as our equally capable driver. Thanks to both of you for introducing your City to us. Pick up at our was on time, and the tour vehicle was spotless. Getting out of the vehicle and doing some walking during our tour so that we could experience some of the tour highlights firsthand was welcomed. This is not a 'fly by' tour. A little pricey, but it was a private tour and in the end, my wife and I agreed that the tour $ was well spent.

Response from the operator: We'd first like to thank you for choosing to tour with us here at Integrity Tourism, and second, an extra special thanks for taking the time to review the tour. We are so glad that you enjoyed the itinerary, as well as your guide and driver respectively, they do make a great team! Best wishes to you both.

The frequent stops to get out of the...

The frequent stops to get out of the van were greatly appreciated. The combination of walking and riding were a good mix. Sergio was quite knowledgeable and very helpful in understanding the history and culture of Lima. The stops were well-timed, not rushed, and a good use of the time. Jorge was an excellent driver in the maddening Lima traffic.

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Lima, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

How far in advance should I book Lima South: Visit Pyramids, a Vibrant Wharf, & Bohemian Barranco?

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lima can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lima and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

What are the best things to do in Lima?

    +

On Outty we rank every Lima experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Paracas & Huacachina Premium Experience from Lima, Day Tour From Lima: Paracas, Huacachina, Pisco Vineyard & Sunset, Premium Paracas & Huacachina Day Trip from Lima with Sunset Toast. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Lima?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Lima?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
