About this experience
This city tour combines the classic highlights of Lima’s historic center with alternative, less touristic hidden gems. Of course, the guide will tell you all about the history behind the colonial buildings but also share interesting facts and stories of life in Lima. What makes this city tour of Lima unique is its alternative and local touch. Some of the places you'll visit are usually not included in the traditional city walking tours. The best way to see historic Lima
Rosario was AMAZING! We had a fantastic morning with her. She is so knowledgeable and full of interesting stories and her English is excellent. We are so glad we were lucky enough to have her as our guide!

Alfredo es el mejor
We had a long layover in Lima. Alfredo met us as soon as we walked out the door of the airport. He saw us before we saw him and then spent the entire day showing us around Lima for shopping and walking in beautiful parks from the olive groves in San Isidro, to the old colonial buildings in Barranco and finished the day walking from the Malecón in Mira Flores along the ocean view path for a beautiful view of the sunset where we had dinner at Mayta. Our driver, Sergio, kept our bags safe and picked us up when needed. He then took us back to the airport and helped with our bags right to the airport door. Highly recommend any tour with Alfredo. He is knowledgeable not only about Peruvian history but also current and local culture and places to go.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your heartfelt words! I’m truly grateful for the chance to share Lima with you and turn your layover into such a special day. From strolling through the parks and neighborhoods to watching the sunset along the Malecón, it was a joy to make those memories together. I’ll also share your kind words with Sergio, who will be so glad to know his support made everything easier and more comfortable. Your recommendation means a lot, and I look forward to welcoming you back to Peru one day!

The Perfect Day in Lima
Alfredo showed us exactly what we wanted to see on our private tour in Lima. From the moment I reached out to Alternative Peru, Alfredo was responsive, articulate, helpful and kind. We explore San Isidro, Barranco and Miraflores. He made the entire day easy, relaxed and fun. We learned so much, saw off-the-beaten parts of Lima (which we wanted), from art, to coffee, high-end shopping, nature and the best food. We also just completely enjoyed his company. Sergio was a great driver, the van was clean and safe. We loved being able to leave all of our valuables in the van and explore with ease. Alfredo is a new friend and we will definitely be back for more tours. This is my 7th time in Peru and next time I come back, I will be booking with Alternative Peru!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your beautiful words! It was a true pleasure to spend the day with you, exploring the neighborhoods you wanted to see and sharing the many sides of Lima. I’m so glad you felt comfortable, relaxed, and enjoyed the tour as much as I did. I’ll also share your kind words with Sergio, who will be very happy to hear them. Knowing you consider me a new friend means the world, and I look forward to welcoming you back for more adventures in Peru! :)

Half Day City Tour
Excellent walking tour through the historic area and busy urban center. Alfredo was a fantastic guide, knowledgeable, and relaxed. He fit the tour around my interests, so I got less museum time and more market time. He provided lots of local insights and I’m glad i booked this tour. Highly recommend.

A Terrific Day in Lima with wonderful guides
We loved our day with Alfredo and Rosario. We were well taken care of all day. They tolerated our questions and ignorance and educated and explained everything so we could understand and truly enjoy.

Why this scores 63
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Lima Historic Center Private Tour: Highlights and Hidden Gems: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lima.
How much does Lima Historic Center Private Tour: Highlights and Hidden Gems cost?
+
Prices start at $94 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lima usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Lima Historic Center Private Tour: Highlights and Hidden Gems take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lima is not rushed.
Is Lima Historic Center Private Tour: Highlights and Hidden Gems worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 63 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Lima, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Lima Historic Center Private Tour: Highlights and Hidden Gems?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Lima Historic Center Private Tour: Highlights and Hidden Gems suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Lima Historic Center Private Tour: Highlights and Hidden Gems?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lima can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lima and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Lima Historic Center Private Tour: Highlights and Hidden Gems start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lima within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Lima?
+
On Outty we rank every Lima experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Paracas & Huacachina Premium Experience from Lima, Day Tour From Lima: Paracas, Huacachina, Pisco Vineyard & Sunset, Premium Paracas & Huacachina Day Trip from Lima with Sunset Toast. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Lima?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Lima?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
