Excellent instructor!
We didn’t know who to book with but we are so happy we ended up choosing Go Catch a Wave. The pre-booking service was great even though I mucked them about a bit with final numbers (thanks Nathan, Issy and Laura) and our instructor Zephyr was fantastic - very upbeat, knowledgable and when I had trouble standing up he showed me an alternative and it worked a treat. Our group of four all ended up catching heaps of waves and having a ball.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your wonderful review! 🤙 We're so pleased you chose Go Ride A Wave for your surfing experience. We'll be sure to pass your kind words on to Nathan, Issy, Laura they'll love hearing your feedback. It's fantastic that Zephyr's coaching helped you get to your feet and that your whole group had such a great time catching waves. We hope to see you all again soon!

A great surf lesson experience
A fantastic 2 hours of surfing fun during a lesson with Zephyr. His natural enthusiasm and obvious love of surfing were a huge encouragement during my 1st ever attempt on the waves. His safety brief and structured step explanation of technique were excellent and really helped me progess. A great session, Thanks Zephyr.
Response from the operator: Thank you for the wonderful review! We're thrilled to hear you had such a fantastic first surfing experience with Zephyr. His enthusiasm, passion for surfing, and focus on safety and technique make him a great instructor, and we're glad they helped you progress and enjoy your time in the water. We'll be sure to pass on your kind words. Thanks for surfing with us, and we hope to see you again soon!

He walked in confident and walked out a surfer
I booked surfing lessons for my son and wasn't sure what to expect. Within minutes the instructors had him laughing and completely relaxed. They were incredible with kids — patient, encouraging, and somehow managed to make learning feel like pure fun rather than a lesson. He was standing up in no time and the instructors celebrated it like he’d won a world title, which absolutely made his day. He came out of the water beaming and hasn’t stopped talking about it since. What really stood out was how safe and organised everything felt while still being relaxed and enjoyable. I booked 3 lessons and will book more later in the year and he now wants his own surfboard and wetsuit. If you have a kid who’s keen and ready to give surfing a real go, this is exactly the kind of lesson you want.
Response from the operator: Hi there, Thanks so much for such an amazing review — this really means a lot to us! 🤙 We’re stoked to hear your son had such a great experience. Getting kids comfortable, confident, and having fun in the water is exactly what we aim for, and it’s awesome to hear he was up and riding so quickly! Love that the team made it a big moment for him too — those first waves are something special. Great to hear you’ve already booked more lessons, and we can’t wait to see him back in the water (sounds like he’ll have his own board in no time 😄). Thanks again for trusting us — we’ll see you both again soon!

Great instructor is so important!
The insurer Tahao is great. I learnt 2 times some years ago not couldn't stand on the board. I can do it today. Tahao explained clearly the forms of wave. I learnt how to observe which wave conditions are good our dangerous.
Response from the operator: Hi there, Thanks so much for the great review! 🤙 Stoked to hear you got up and riding this time — that’s an awesome result. Tahu will be really happy to hear your feedback, especially around explaining the waves and helping you understand the conditions. That knowledge makes a huge difference out there, so it’s great to hear it all clicked for you. Hope to see you back in the water again soon! Cheers, Sam

Fun time
Amazing experience! As a solo international traveller, I was nervous to do this surfing lesson at first. But my instructor gave me super helpful tips and was very attentive to my posture so I managed to get the best experience out of my time and money. Very recommended :)
Response from the operator: Hi there, Thanks so much for the awesome review! 🤙 Stoked to hear you pushed past the nerves and had such a great experience — especially travelling solo. That’s exactly what we aim for, making everyone feel comfortable, supported, and getting the most out of their time in the water. Awesome to hear the coaching helped you get up and riding too! Really appreciate the recommendation and hope to see you back for another surf sometime. Cheers, Sam

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Gold Coast.
How much does Learn to Surf at Coolangatta on the Gold Coast cost?
+
Prices start at $67 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Gold Coast usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Learn to Surf at Coolangatta on the Gold Coast take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Gold Coast is not rushed.
Is Learn to Surf at Coolangatta on the Gold Coast worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 81 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 81 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Gold Coast, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Learn to Surf at Coolangatta on the Gold Coast?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Learn to Surf at Coolangatta on the Gold Coast suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Learn to Surf at Coolangatta on the Gold Coast?
+
Around 28 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Gold Coast can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Gold Coast and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Learn to Surf at Coolangatta on the Gold Coast start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Gold Coast within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Gold Coast?
+
On Outty we rank every Gold Coast experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include 2 Hour Ultimate Learn to Surf Adventure, Gold Coast Whale Watching Cruise, Mount Tamborine Wine Tasting Tour from Brisbane or the Gold Coast. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Gold Coast?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Gold Coast?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
