Best cooking class
Whenever we travel, my partner and I always book a cooking class. We’ve been to many but this was easily the best one. Emi, the host, is so kind, open, and a great teacher. We learned so much not only about the cooking, but Japan and the culture. She gave us many recommendations for our trip. The food was delicious and the setting was cozy and intimate. I honestly do not think there is a better cooking class to choose than this one. The location may seem far, but it’s extremely easy to get here with public transportation, and being able to see a more quiet and residential side of Tokyo was great to see. This experience was absolutely amazing and we would highly recommend it to anybody!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind review! We are truly honored to hear that this was one of the best cooking classes you’ve experienced during your travels. Creating a warm, welcoming, and memorable experience is exactly what we hope for, and we’re so happy that the cozy atmosphere and neighborhood setting added to your experience. We really appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you both again on another culinary adventure in Japan someday!

Very nice experience
We had a really good time. The class isn’t too complicated and what we prepared was really good. It is easy to make it again at home since the host explains everything very well. She was really nice and invested into teaching us how to make the meals. We also had a really good time with her and great conversation. Thank you very much
Response from the operator: Thank you very much for your kind feedback. We're delighted to hear that you had a great time and found the class both enjoyable and easy to follow. It's wonderful to know that the instructions were clear and helpful for recreating the dishes at home. We truly appreciate your participation and hope to welcome you again in the future ☺️

We highly recommend...
We highly recommend booking a cooking session with Emi if you’d like to learn more about Japanese cuisine!! My daughter (who is training to be a chef) and I enjoyed a lovely evening making a delicious meal and learning so much from Emi…. from specific culinary techniques and recipes to what life is like in Japan. She is so friendly and knowledgeable that we will certainly book another class with her when we visit again. Cooking with Emi and exploring her neighbourhood in Tokyo was definitely one of the highlights of our trip!!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re thrilled to hear that you and your daughter had such a wonderful time cooking with Emi. It’s fantastic that she could share not only her culinary expertise but also insights into life in Japan. We’re delighted that this experience became one of the highlights of your trip! We can’t wait to welcome you back for another memorable cooking session in Tokyo!

Wonderful Cooking Experience
Emi is a fantastic instructor. From the start of the class, she clearly demonstrated what to do, talked through why we needed to take each step (the 'this is what you're looking for' in a recipe, for example why you want the vegetables cut in a particular way), and overall made it an absolutely wonderful experience. All three dishes we made were delicious and unique, so getting to learn the techniques of how to make each one was wonderful. I'm strictly vegetarian and she worked with me to make everything appropriate for my diet (and it was all delicious!). We came away feeling comfortably full and with a wonderful memory. We look forward to making the dishes again now that we know how. If you want a wonderful addition to your trip where you can actually learn about the food (and Emi was wonderful to talk to so you can ask questions about food, cooking, and Japanese culture) then I highly recommend taking this class!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed the class and found it both informative and delicious. It’s great to know that you had a wonderful experience with our instructor. We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope you have fun recreating those dishes at home. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future!

Why this scores 55
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Learn to Make Home Style Tempura Udon and Gyoza: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tokyo.
How much does Learn to Make Home Style Tempura Udon and Gyoza cost?
+
Prices start at $14616 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tokyo usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Learn to Make Home Style Tempura Udon and Gyoza take?
+
Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tokyo is not rushed.
Is Learn to Make Home Style Tempura Udon and Gyoza worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Tokyo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Learn to Make Home Style Tempura Udon and Gyoza?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Learn to Make Home Style Tempura Udon and Gyoza suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Learn to Make Home Style Tempura Udon and Gyoza?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tokyo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tokyo and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Learn to Make Home Style Tempura Udon and Gyoza start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tokyo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Tokyo?
+
Tokyo is less a city than a stack of neighborhoods with completely different opening hours. A guided food crawl through Shinjuku's Omoide Yokocho gets you past the no-tourist curtains, while the day trips west to Hakone and Fuji need an early start to be worth the fare. Our ranking weighs guide quality heavily here, because in Tokyo the guide is the product. On Outty we rank every Tokyo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Tokyo Shinjuku Chopsticks Making Class, Tokyo : Asakusa Chopsticks Making Class, Shinjuku Night Food and Bar Crawl. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Tokyo?
+
Late March to May for blossom, October to November for clear Fuji views. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Tokyo?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
