For just AED1 (US$0.27), you can hop aboard one of many traditional ferry boats, known as abras, to cross the creek that separates Bur Dubai from Deira, Dubai’s city centre; the journey is one of the most affordable yet authentic experiences in the city. An abra, which means “to cross” in Arabic, runs every few minutes throughout the day between four stations along Dubai Creek. The first route goes from Deira Old Souk Abra Station (near the Spice Souk) to Bur Dubai Abra Station (west of the Textile Souk). The second, much busier route, runs continuously from Al Sabkha Abra Station (just southwest of Baniyas Square) to Dubai Old Souk Abra Station.

Dubai highlights

Would strongly recommend this tour if having a layover in Dubai. I had Sheikh rehan to guide me around the city, he knows a lot of History and answered all my questions. I did this as a female solo traveller and he made me feel safe, showed me many highlights that I would not of been able to see without a car. The city is beautiful during the day and at night. This tour also operates any hours during the day or night. I'd give it 10 stars if I could!

Tour guide ignoring needs of elderly guest

My three generation family group of 3 tourists was passing through Dubai on our way home, and we wanted to see a bit of the city before continuing our journey onward. Because of the complexities of traveling with such a wide age range in our group, I opted to take the private tour route and booked through Tour with Malik. Upon arrival, we found out that we were assigned a tour guide named Ikram (i.e. not Malik). He took us toward the new part of Dubai, and was rushing ahead off my elderly parent. We asked multiple times for him to slow down, but he couldn't be bothered to check on her status on his own. He also would arrive at the spot where he wanted to give his brief comments, and he'd turn around and launch into his two sentences before my parent was able to catch up, and by the time she arrived, he was done with his two sentence intro. He would also frequently show us the destination only steps away from the parking lot and was unwilling to go any closer for better views. While we were at the mall, he indicated that the fountain show wasn't until 6 pm, so we wouldn't be able to see it, and en route to the old part of Dubai with the souks, he said the traffic was poor, so we wouldn't make it there and back. He offered to take us there and just leave us to return to the hotel on our own, which was the opposite of the experience I wanted (i.e. ease of transit for my three generation group) when booking this tour. I had to wonder why he didn't take us to old city first knowing the fountain schedule and traffic patterns. An experienced and thoughtful tour guide would have made the plan with this in mind. The car was comfortable, and the driver was good, but overall, I was very disappointed and would not recommend booking with this company.

Response from the operator: Dear Traveler we are very sorry that you have felt bad experience we feel that it was misleading and incorrect information have been provided and we think it is completely opposite then your statement you have stated about fountain show if you were having an interest to see the fountain you should book your tour at evening time dubai fountain show starts at 6pm we are not Authorized for any changes fountain show times and you have also stated that you were not able to see spice market in our layover tour we have to see the time of your next flight if in that traffic you want to see spice market and you want to miss your flight which surely you have paid in thousands dollars we are ready to show you the spice market but in that case we are 100 percent sure that you will lose your all valuable money which you have paid to the airline we are very sorry that you have written unjustly

Layover & Stopover Tours in Dubai: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Dubai.

How much does Layover & Stopover Tours in Dubai cost?

+

Prices start at $759 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Dubai usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Layover & Stopover Tours in Dubai take?

+

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Dubai is not rushed.

Is Layover & Stopover Tours in Dubai worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 55 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Dubai, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Layover & Stopover Tours in Dubai?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Layover & Stopover Tours in Dubai suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Layover & Stopover Tours in Dubai?

+

Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Dubai can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Dubai and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Layover & Stopover Tours in Dubai start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Dubai within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Dubai?

+

On Outty we rank every Dubai experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Dubai Premium Red Dunes Safari, Camels & 5* BBQ at Al Khayma Camp, Dubai: Red Dunes Safari, Quad, Camel, Dune Bash, BBQ & Shows, Dubai Dune Buggy Safari Tour in Red Dunes Options. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Dubai?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Dubai?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
