    Vegas trip highlight!

Our sunset kayak tour with Evolution Expeditions was easily one of the highlights of our trip! From the very beginning, the communication and customer service were exceptional. Chad contacted us ahead of time to make sure we had the correct kayak selected, dinner choices submitted, waivers completed, and all meetup details confirmed. The day of the tour, he followed up again with a more precise meetup time. During our conversation, we mentioned we were taking a Lyft, and out of genuine concern about us having transportation afterward, he arranged transportation to and from the meetup spot for us. Huge thanks to Chad for going above and beyond! Our driver, Jeff, was right on time and made the ride enjoyable by sharing fascinating history about Las Vegas, Hoover Dam, and Lake Mead along the way. Once we arrived, we met our guides, Soren and Calvin (who was shadowing on the tour). They were fantastic! They gave clear safety instructions and made kayaking approachable and fun, even for beginners. Along the tour, we learned about the geography and history of the Lake Mead area while taking in some absolutely stunning scenery. The experience itself was unforgettable. We paddled to an island, enjoyed a delicious deli dinner, watched the sunset over the water, roasted marshmallows around a campfire, and then paddled back under the stars with lights attached to the kayaks. Such a unique and memorable experience! This tour was absolutely worth every penny and is something I would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area. If you’re on the fence, book the sunset kayak tour. You will not regret it!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for the incredible review! We’re thrilled to hear the sunset kayak tour was one of the highlights of your Las Vegas trip. From transportation and trip planning to paddling under the stars on Lake Mead, we’re so glad every part of the experience exceeded expectations. We all appreciate your kind words! Our team works hard to create unforgettable kayaking adventures with great service, beautiful scenery, and unique experiences both on and off the water. The sunset views, island dinner, campfire, and nighttime paddle truly make this one of the most memorable kayak tours near Las Vegas. Thank you again for the recommendation, and we hope to see you back for another adventure soon! — Evolution Expeditions Kayaking Las Vegas

NOT SAFE !! THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR SAFETY

Well how should I start. The tour we picked was the sunset kayak expedition. After some unexpected wind hit us earlier than was expected, we were left stranded on a rocky, not island, but away from civilization. Not on the main beach but only accessible via water. We were told to shelter in place for 15-20 minutes and wait for the wind to die down. After multiple texts, and calls about a rescue option, we found out that no one was taking it seriously as we were told multiple times that we should just get in the kayaks and once we pass the side we were on that the wind would be at our backs and we would be ok to make it back to shore. Our safety wasn't a concern at all. To anyone EXCEPT our guide Soren. Not from the manager, not the owner, not Lake Mead. The rescue boat was not rescue ready or safe and after MORE than 3 hours of waiting and multiple calls, texts, attempts to rectify our situation we were given the following "options": 1) 911 would bring a helicopter. This was given as an option and turned out to not be an option. 2) Rangers would bring a rescue boat out to grab us. We were told they were waiting back at the beach but Lake Mead does not have night rescue. Despite that, this option was PRESENTED multiple times as an option but no follow through and obviously lied to as the have no night rescue. 3) Access to the zodiac. The company's rescue boat. The company would bring it over for us. 4) Support/escorts would help guide us, ride along side us, tow us back to the beach. 5) Sheltering in place for the night, this option was given to us after 2.5 hours of waiting for a rescue. And finally, and this was repeatedly given was 6) to get back in the kayaks and "brave it out". Nevermind the fact that 6 out of the 8 people it was their first time kayaking. Or that the kayaks were flipping over repeatedly from the winds. Or even one of the experienced kayakers going out and flipping over from the winds. We finally got some support from the manager and the owner to get us all back to safety. Listening to our poor guide be gaslit about how it wasn't that serious when the "support" themselves had to wait for the wind to become safer to join us where we were stranded. It was apparent that this type of situation hadn't been planned for or have had talks of what to do in this situation, as a company is just utterly dumbfounding and unprofessional. I understand this situation isnt a common issue as this was previously mentioned time and time again, but the lack of urgency and determination to ensure the safe return of un-experienced kayakers who sought out your company just seems to be entirely dishearting. This issue needs to be addressed and discussed for the further safety of future clients, and maybe some more humility and humanity to those who aren't experienced on the waters.

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We sincerely apologize for the distress you and your group experienced during the sunset kayak expedition. Your safety and comfort are our top priorities, and we're deeply sorry that you felt those were compromised. We understand how alarming unexpected weather conditions can be, especially when you're in an unfamiliar environment. Although our guides are trained to handle such situations and our safety record since 2006 reflects our commitment to safety, it's clear we need to communicate more effectively. Rest assured, even when conditions appear daunting, we have measures in place to ensure everyone’s safety. We regret any confusion regarding rescue options. While we strive to provide clear and reassuring guidance, we acknowledge that this situation highlighted areas where we must improve our communication. As soon as we learned that further assistance was needed, we mobilized our team, including waking up guides to ensure your safe return. Your feedback is invaluable, and we take it very seriously. We are reviewing this incident thoroughly to ensure our protocols are not only clear but also comforting and effective in emergencies. Our team will also undergo additional training to better handle unexpected scenarios, ensuring we maintain our commitment to safety and customer care. Thank you again for your patience and understanding in this challenging situation. We are fully committed to learning from this experience and improving our service for future guests.

Las Vegas: Sunset Kayak Tour with Dinner, Swim and Campfire: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Las Vegas.

How much does Las Vegas: Sunset Kayak Tour with Dinner, Swim and Campfire cost?

    +

Prices start at $172 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Las Vegas usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Las Vegas: Sunset Kayak Tour with Dinner, Swim and Campfire take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Las Vegas is not rushed.

Is Las Vegas: Sunset Kayak Tour with Dinner, Swim and Campfire worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 24 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Las Vegas, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Las Vegas: Sunset Kayak Tour with Dinner, Swim and Campfire?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Las Vegas: Sunset Kayak Tour with Dinner, Swim and Campfire suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Las Vegas: Sunset Kayak Tour with Dinner, Swim and Campfire?

    +

Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Las Vegas can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Las Vegas and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Las Vegas: Sunset Kayak Tour with Dinner, Swim and Campfire start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Las Vegas within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Las Vegas?

    +

Las Vegas sells two trips at once: the Strip after dark, and the red-rock desert that starts twenty minutes past the last casino. Helicopter runs to the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam half-days and Red Rock Canyon drives all leave early, while show tickets, speakeasy crawls and high-roller dining fill the evening. Outty Ranking weighs operator reliability heavily here, because the gap between a well-run desert tour and a coach-and-queue version is enormous. On Outty we rank every Las Vegas experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Small Group: Valley of Fire Half Day Tour from Las Vegas, Small Group Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, 7 Magic Mountains VIP Tour, Grand Canyon West, Hoover Dam Stop, Breakfast, Lunch & Skywalk. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Las Vegas?

    +

October to April. Summer highs above 105F make midday outdoor tours punishing. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Las Vegas?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
