What you'll see and do

  1. Dayang Bunting Island

The name Pulau Dayang Bunting translates to 'lsle of the Pregnant Maiden', named because from a distance the hills resemble the silhouette of a pregnant lady. However, this also relates to the belief that barren women will fall pregnant after swimming in the freshwater lake that the island is best known for. To access the lake and uncover whether the legend is true, take a 15-minute hike from the jetty up a concrete stairway through the lush forest. This is a delightful and picturesque place to swim or hire a kayak or paddleboat, surrounded by rolling hills, limestone formations, and mangrove trees, although it has an average depth of ten metres with no shallow areas. Life jackets are available to hire from a nearby shop. A boardwalk by the lake will lead you through the mangrove forest, where you can discover an abundance of intriguing limestone cave waiting to be explored.

Good once it got going but very late leaving and disorganized at the office.

Boat was 1 hour late leaving so a 3-4 hour trip was only 2.5 hours. Driver of the boat was friendly and polite but driver extremely fast. Could improve the path to the lake. Not suitable if you’re not fit and able.

Stay in town - get an umbrella and loungers off the guys on the beach.

Basically a boat ride to 2 islands. The pick up was 1/2 hour late and then we still had to wait at the collection point. Left the dock just after 10:00 am and the boat ride was OK (you get wet but that’s ok) - to an island that has a PAID ENTRY FEE to walk up to the lake. Not worth the price of admission. Then a short ride to see the boat driver throw a small bucket of fish parts in the water to watch 50 or so eagles swoop down and grab the food. We were there for about 3 minutes. Then to another island where you can swim- not really a great beach. Back on the boat and wet ride back to the dock and returned to the hotel at 1:15. I would not recommend this excursion to any of my friends.

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We would like to clarify that the hotel pick-up time provided is an estimated time, as this tour is a sharing tour, not a private one. This means we need to collect guests from different hotels, which can sometimes cause slight delays. While this may not meet your personal expectations, many other guests understand and are comfortable with this arrangement. Regarding the itinerary, the activities follow what is clearly stated in the tour description, including island visits, eagle feeding, and swimming time. Entrance fees at certain locations are managed by the local authorities and are mentioned in advance. We are sorry to hear that the experience did not suit your preferences, but we appreciate your honest feedback as it helps us improve. Thank you again for joining our tour.

Water taxi

The trip itself is ok. There is a lack of information during the trip. There are no explanations it is only hop on hop off.If you want just to use the boat only on travel purposes is fine to book this trip. If you expect more find something different.

Beautiful

Such a beautiful island, so nice color of the water. Love the swings and the water is also clean. There are too many monkeys so please be aware of the bags.

Not as advertised.

Really not as advertised. We paid extra for a private boat, the boat journey was the nicest thing about the morning, but it wasnt worth nearly £135. Yes we got picked up from our hotel, yes the guide spoke English, so this was as advertised. We arrived at the dock and were left with another tour company to give us stickers and let us know which boat we were to embark on. Our boat driver did not speak English, it wasnt a problem for us, but just something to note if it is. Then we were taken to Beras Besah which is essentially a tourist trap. You are stranded for an hour in the blistering heat with very little shade and nothing to do/explore. You could only access the beach, everywhere else had restricted access signs - so no pier to explore. So unless you paid for watersports you have to huddle under the shade of the few trees with hundreds of other tourists. Then we were taken to feed the eagles (this was not on the itinerary). This consisted of the boat driver throwing some food into the sea and waiting for the eagles to come. This to be fair was quite nice seeing the wildlife up close. There was no second stop for an hour at Pulau Singha - didnt exist. Not sure where it was and definitely didnt see any wildlife. Biggest disappointment. We were then taken to the final stop at Pregnant Maiden. Soooo many people all crammed onto one tiny little island space. You can literally only climb up to the lake (which is MR20 per adult - price should have been advertised). You have a relatively short time here in comparison to how long queues are so by the time you get up to the lake and in for a quick dip, you have to go back to the boat, which again means no time for exploring the boardwalk and limestone. The boat then took us back to the dock, where the boat driver couldnt wait to unload us and set off again. Our driver was waiting for us to bring us back to the resort. Very disappointing and not what was advertised. Wouldnt waste the huge amount of money for this trip.

Langkawi Island Hopping Boat Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Langkawi.

How much does Langkawi Island Hopping Boat Tour cost?

+

Prices start at $31 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Langkawi usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Langkawi Island Hopping Boat Tour take?

+

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Langkawi is not rushed.

Is Langkawi Island Hopping Boat Tour worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 54 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.4/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Langkawi, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Langkawi Island Hopping Boat Tour?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Langkawi Island Hopping Boat Tour suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Langkawi Island Hopping Boat Tour?

+

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Langkawi can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Langkawi and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Langkawi Island Hopping Boat Tour start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Langkawi within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Langkawi?

+

On Outty we rank every Langkawi experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include JungleWalla Langkawi UNESCO Geopark Mangrove Cruise, 6 Hours Sharing Basis Kilim Mangrove Safari Boat Tour in Langkawi, 6 Hours Kilim Mangrove Kayaking Sharing Tour (Wt Lunch & Pickup). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Langkawi?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Langkawi?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
