Sooo worth it, best exclusive views

Fabulous few hours, 3 landings, and flew over other amazing attractions. We flew over Reykjavík then onto stokkur geysirs, thingvellir national park & gulfoss. We stopped at Haifoss & Grannifoss, then off to Landmannaguar and next to glacier “ short name E15” Landmannaguar was so amazing it did not look real, this was the main reason I chose this flight, and the glacier was just as amazing. Our pilots Aaron & Philip were super friendly and helpful and we weren’t rushed , they gave quick tutorial on headphones and mics. I would definitely recommend as it ticks off quiet a few amazing views you cannot get from diving and hiking so unique

    Outstanding / Must do!

For my trip to Iceland in late May and early June 2026, I had one special goal: to experience Iceland’s breathtaking natural beauty from the air by helicopter. Before my trip, I contacted Glacier Helicopters in Reykjavík to arrange several scenic flights. From the very beginning, the communication was outstanding. Unfortunately, Icelandic weather had other plans. Strong winds and unfavorable flying conditions repeatedly forced the cancellation of scheduled flights. However, the entire Glacier Helicopters team kept me continuously informed, communicated proactively, and worked tirelessly to find alternative dates and times. Their flexibility, professionalism, and customer focus were truly exceptional. Thanks to their efforts, everything finally came together on June 8 and June 9, 2026—and it was worth every minute of waiting. The flights were simply breathtaking and exceeded all my expectations. A huge thank you to pilot Sylvester on June 8 and pilot Simon (from Norðurflug) on June 9. Both did an outstanding job, sharing their knowledge and ensuring an unforgettable experience while flying safely through some of Iceland’s most spectacular landscapes. Across both days, I experienced multiple incredible landings and had the privilege of seeing some of Iceland’s most remarkable natural wonders: • Þingvellir National Park – a UNESCO World Heritage Site where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet. From the air, the dramatic rift valleys and fissures, both on land and extending beneath nearby waters, are truly fascinating. • Langjökull Glacier – one of Iceland’s largest glaciers and the second-largest ice cap in the country, covering approximately 950 square kilometers. Landing on this immense glacier was an unforgettable experience and offered stunning panoramic views across Iceland’s interior. • Katla Glacier (Mýrdalsjökull) – Iceland’s fourth-largest glacier, covering around 590 square kilometers and resting above the powerful Katla volcano. The combination of massive ice formations, volcanic landscapes, and endless wilderness creates a truly awe-inspiring sight from above. • Landmannalaugar – without a doubt one of the absolute highlights of the entire trip. Located in Iceland’s remote Highlands, this world-famous region is renowned for its stunning rhyolite mountains, which display extraordinary shades of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and black. Seeing this colorful landscape from the air was almost surreal and revealed patterns, textures, and contrasts that simply cannot be appreciated from the ground. • Hengill Geothermal Area – we landed at two different locations within this active volcanic and geothermal region. The steaming vents, colorful mineral deposits, and rugged volcanic terrain provided a fascinating glimpse into Iceland’s geothermal forces. • The new volcanic areas on the Reykjanes Peninsula – although there was no visible volcanic activity at the time, it was remarkable to see the fresh lava fields created by the recent eruptions and witness how Iceland’s landscape continues to evolve. Even the fuel-stop landing turned into an interesting and memorable part of the adventure, offering additional insights into helicopter operations in Iceland’s remote environments. After these flights, I can honestly say that I was incredibly impressed by the professionalism, organization, communication, and execution provided by Glacier Helicopters and their partners. Thanks to them, I was able to experience Iceland’s extraordinary beauty not only from the air but also at remote and otherwise inaccessible locations. This was undoubtedly one of the absolute highlights of my entire Iceland journey and one of the most spectacular travel experiences I have ever had. I can wholeheartedly recommend this unique experience to anyone visiting Iceland. It is worth every cent and creates memories that will last a lifetime. I am already certain that on my next trip to Iceland, I will be back in a helicopter exploring this incredible country from above once again. Thank you to everyone involved—and hopefully see you again soon!

Landmarks from Above: Helicopter tour with 3 Landings: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Reykjavik.

How much does Landmarks from Above: Helicopter tour with 3 Landings cost?

    +

Prices start at $1400 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Reykjavik usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Landmarks from Above: Helicopter tour with 3 Landings take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Reykjavik is not rushed.

Is Landmarks from Above: Helicopter tour with 3 Landings worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 51 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.6/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Reykjavik, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Landmarks from Above: Helicopter tour with 3 Landings?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Landmarks from Above: Helicopter tour with 3 Landings suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Landmarks from Above: Helicopter tour with 3 Landings?

    +

Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Reykjavik can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Reykjavik and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Landmarks from Above: Helicopter tour with 3 Landings start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Reykjavik within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Reykjavik?

    +

On Outty we rank every Reykjavik experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Reykjavik Food Walk - Local Foodie Adventure in Iceland, Small-Group Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon with Ticket & Kerid Crater, Reykjavík Small group Walking Tour - by CityWalk. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Reykjavik?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Reykjavik?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
