What you get

    About this experience

At National Remembrance Central Museum of Prisoners-of-War you will see the series of displays which popularize the knowledge concerning the Nazi crimes committed during WW2 the situation of POW’s during armed conflicts. The labour camp functioned brtween 1945-1946, and the number of its victims is believed to be ca.1.5 thousand people. The detained were mainly German civilians waiting to be resettled into the heart of Germany. Hard living conditions, hunger, diseases and bad treatment resulted in the camp’s personnel high mortality. On the day of the tour you will also see three cemeteries. Each of them with different history. The museum and all the three cemeteries are located in the different parts of the village Lambinowice and on the outskirts of it. We will provide you with the transfer to all these places, as well as with the service of an English speaking guide.

Daughter returns to Father’s War prison site

This was a very emotional and exciting day for me. I was visiting the site for my father was imprisoned during World War II. My friend Sylvia was with me for emotional support and to experience the site as well. Thomasz was an excellent guy. He was very professional and knowledgeable. He was also very kind and supportive. I would not hesitate to recommend him for any type of tour as it is obvious that he has a great depth of knowledge about this area, both history and current affairs. I believe my day was even more special to me as I was able to have Thomasz with us. He continually engages with his clients and make sure we are comfortable as well as gaining the experience we desire.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your kind words. We’re honored Thomasz could support you during such an emotional visit and provide his knowledge and care. We appreciate your recommendation!

    Stalag VIIIB Lambinowice - Visit

We went on March 17th 2025 for the 80th anniversary of the closing of Stalag VIIIB (344). A commemoration service was arranged by the War Museum in Lambinowice. We contacted the Museum and Dominik responded by giving us the details and confirmation that we could attend and the start time etc. Lambinowice is not on the ‘normal’ tours list for operators in Krakow since it is around 2 1/2 hours by car, however Dominik suggested we contact Rafal at primetourskrakow.com. Rafal arranged a private trip with driver Thomas. I have to say the trip and the information Thomas provided was superb (he is an historian) and because we had time, he was able to provide much more detail and take us to lots more locations than a group trip. The museum, the Monument of Martyrdom, the railway station at Sowin where there is an original railway car that you will easily miss by thinking it’s just an old wooden shed, the massive graveyard, the Russian camp which still partly remains, and what I thought was most important (since there are no longer any remains of Stalag VIIIB camp) was the small track off the main road that was used by Stalag VIIIB prisoners to walk to work and importantly start of the Long March (18th January 1945). Just walking along that track was emotional knowing my father had walked that many times, spend a few minutes there in the silence. It is probably a once in a lifetime trip, a long day, but one I’m glad we did Good luck

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for sharing this deeply meaningful review. We’re truly honored to have been part of such a personal and emotional journey. Visiting places like Lambinowice and Stalag VIIIB is not just a historical experience — it’s a powerful tribute to memory and family history. We’re glad that Tomasz could provide the historical context and extra visits that made the day even more complete. Through Prime Tours, you can conveniently arrange everything in one place — door-to-door transportation from Kraków, a private guide at the Lambinowice Museum, and, if needed, we can also assist you in obtaining additional information about your ancestors connected with this site.

    Emotional & Excellent

Our trip as a family was very personal as we had the opportunity to visit the POW camp where our Dad/Grandfather was held. The trip was both emotional and interesting. The trip was easy to book, and great communication for pick up and length of the trip. Our guide Tomasz was exceptional & personal, as we had some articles relating to the time held in the camp Tomasz even arranged for us to meet the museum staff and show them, after speaking with them we decided to donate our items – in which the museum was very grateful. Tomasz translated for us and made sure we understood everything that was discussed, and we were happy to donate. The museum is fantastic and very informative of what took place through the war. Tomasz then took us to the grounds of the camp and the memorial statue which again was emotional. It was a long day, but at no time did we feel rushed, and took our time to take everything in. As it was a long day Tomasz asked if we wanted to stop for food/refreshments, we asked to be taken to a typical Polish restaurant, which was exceptional and great value. Overall, a great day that us as a family will never forget. And when our items are on display it will definitely be Prime Tours we would book with to return.

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing such a deeply moving experience with us. We are honored to have played a part in making your family trip personal, emotional, and informative. We're delighted that Tomasz went above and beyond to ensure your visit to the Lambinowice POW camp was meaningful. We look forward to welcoming you back when your items are on display. Thank you for choosing Prime Tours for this important journey.

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Krakow.

How much does Lambinowice (Lamsdorf) POW camp - Private Tour from Krakow cost?

    +

Prices start at $86 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Krakow usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Lambinowice (Lamsdorf) POW camp - Private Tour from Krakow take?

    +

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Krakow is not rushed.

Is Lambinowice (Lamsdorf) POW camp - Private Tour from Krakow worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Krakow, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Lambinowice (Lamsdorf) POW camp - Private Tour from Krakow?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Lambinowice (Lamsdorf) POW camp - Private Tour from Krakow suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Lambinowice (Lamsdorf) POW camp - Private Tour from Krakow?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Krakow can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Krakow and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Lambinowice (Lamsdorf) POW camp - Private Tour from Krakow start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Krakow within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Krakow?

    +

On Outty we rank every Krakow experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Complete Cracow Bike Tour (small group of maximum 15 people!), Krakow–Zakopane: Cable Car, Chocholow Baths, Cheese & Vodka, Krakow: Zakopane & Hot Springs Tour with Cable Car (Hotel Pickup). The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Krakow?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Krakow?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
