    Culture, Food, and History!

I had an incredible day on this local tour that took us through some of Beijing’s most iconic spots! The day started smoothly with a hotel pick-up, and from there we headed to a lake where I enjoyed a rickshaw ride around the area. Next, we visited the Lama Temple, which was full of vibrant colors and a great atmosphere. After that, we went to the traditional Hutongs, which was a real highlight. We were welcomed into a lovely local woman’s home, where we got hands-on making dumplings together. It was such a unique and authentic experience—preparing and eating homemade Chinese food in a real Beijing Hutong setting! We wrapped up the day at the Temple of Heaven. Throughout the entire tour, my guide Felix was absolutely wonderful. He was warm, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable—sharing fascinating stories and insights at every stop. I can’t praise Felix enough for making the experience so memorable. I highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to see the real Beijing with a personal touch. Thank you, Felix, for a great day!

Brilliant tour with Cathy, 100% recommend

Let me start by I NEVER write a review...But I thought I would for this tour, Cathy our tour guide and the driver so other tourists won't miss out on this amazing experience! It's a fully private tour. The tour guide Cathy collected us along with the driver from a hotel lobby. The 1st stop was Lama Temple, where you can experience the religion with extensive explanation from Cathy. Afterwards Cathy and the driver picked us up and brought us to Beihai Park. You can experience first hand real Chinese lifestyle along with history. Cathy is very knowledgeable, pleasant and funny. Cathy's English is really good! Next we went to Hutong where we visited authentic Hutong family. It was a great occasion to see the inside of Hutong home. We participated in dumpling class and had a delicious lunch! You definitely won't be hungry! The ladies were lovely and we had a laugh as well. It was just perfect! Afterwards we went for a Rickshaw ride around the lake and Hutong. The last stop was the Drum Tower. You get an awesome view of Beijing and experience Drum beat. It was really cool to see it and hear it. Cathy and the driver went above and beyond with making sure we are comfortable throughout the whole experience. The car was brand new, air-conditioned with refreshments. You get a fantastic one on one attention from Cathy. Cathy's knowledge isn't limited to a script, it's extensive and interesting. I wish we have came across Cathy's company earlier and have booked all the activities with her!!! Honestly book it, you won't regret it!!!100% magical

    Excellent day tour with Cathy

Our tour guide Cathy, was excellent - friendly, attentive, very knowledgeable and helped us all day. We thoroughly enjoyed the local lunch and making dumplings. She told us about a show - she organized the tickets too. The driver was always on time. She also gave us a gift of a bowl set. So sweet of her.

What should I bring or wear?

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Beijing?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Beijing?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
