Great tour of Canadian Rockies, but tour is bilingual in Chinese and English

The tour was great. We saw the main scenic sights in the Canadian Rockies, and they were all so gorgeous - a must see in person. Photographs do not nature justice. The tour was very well organized, and the big bus was so comfortable with reclining seats, although the chargers at the seats didn't work but I brought my portable batteries for my phone. Our tour guide Eric gave great commentaries throughout the day of everything we saw along the bus ride, and where to walk for the best views at each stop. He also was very clear to everyone in what time to return to the bus to stay on time. One important detail was that we discovered after showing up that Calgary Tours was a Chinese tour company, and 95% of the customers were Chinese. Eric narrated the tour in both Chinese and English (with a strong Chinese accent), but he was mindful to keep the tour bilingual. Since I am Chinese-American, that gave me a good chance to listen to both and practice my Chinese. My wife who came along, loved the scenery, but had a difficult time listening to the narration as she was Japanese, so she was a bit disappointed that there was not enough clear English to help her understand everything. Besides that, we were so thankful to be able to see the Canadian Rockies in our trip, which is a must-see when visiting Calgary or Alberta if you can make the time.

    It is a Chinese tour!!!

We signed up for an English tour but it turned out to be a Chinese tour with a tour guide who can also speak English. But the tour definitely focused on Chinese understanding people so I felt a little bit like a “left out” and that feeling became bigger as the tour went on. I never recommend this tour if you don’t understand Chinese.

Ticks the box for seeing the lakes

Comfortable clean coach, informative guide, clear instructions on how long you had at each venue. The guide was always nearby and showed us the best places to go. We had s hire car but went with this tour as there are restrictions on private vehicles at some venues

    Good

We had a lot of time to spend in each place which was so good for the places like this. However, the guide tour didn’t share much about the spots and tips regarding the places compared to others that we were with. Also, I got charged with the service charge at the end for $15 per person which I didn’t know before. If you want plenty of time here and there relaxing and at your own pace, this is the tour you’re looking for

How many days do you need in Banff?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
