    My tour

This tour was a great way to see San Diego in one day. The schedule was well planned and we had enough time at each stop. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to talk to. The bus was clean and comfortable for the drive. Old Town had a lot of history and character. The harbor cruise was relaxing with beautiful views. The USS Midway was very impressive and full of interesting exhibits. Balboa Park was a lovely final stop with plenty of photo spots. I really enjoyed this tour and would recommend it to anyone looking for a convenient and enjoyable way to explore San Diego.

    not worth the effort

A very disappointing experience.it turned out that the driver was also the guide . The driver does not know how to guide and does not speak english very well.IN our opinion poor value for money. I participated in the copanys tours in the past and it was very successful, hence our disappointment.

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about your recent tour. Please accept our most sincerely apologies for your disappointing experience. We have always been committed to providing the best service experience for every visitor. Our team of guides has been professionally trained. Not only do they possess a rich background of knowledge and culture, but they also carefully prepare the latest materials and strive to give visitors the most comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the scenic spots in a limited time, ensuring that they can flexibly respond to the different needs of visitors. We are instituting stricter and more regular English language proficiency assessments for any guide assigned to English-speaking tours. Only guides meeting a clearly defined, high standard will be assigned. We hope the steps we are taking demonstrate our commitment to restoring the high standards you previously enjoyed. Thank you again for your invaluable feedback; it is essential in helping us improve.

    Overpriced and no guide

For what it was, this excursion was very overpriced. The driver/guide spoke broken English and never introduced himself. We got dumped in the harbour at 10:40 and told “cruise goes from there at 11:15 then go to the Midway and be back here for 1:30” and then he was gone. Cruise was nice and the crew were very friendly and informative. By the time got to the USS Midway I had about 45mins to explore the attraction. This was amazing but nowhere near enough time. We were then driven to Balboa park and dumped there with a pick up time 2h later. Finally we visited the Old Town but due to others being later at previous points we only had 25 minutes here. The journey was probably the most uncomfortable I have ever been on an excursion with the aircon on full blast for most of the journey (despite the driver been asked to turn it off). To cap things off the driver tried to insist on a $15 per person service charge.

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your feedback about your recent excursion. We sincerely apologize that certain aspects of the tour did not meet your expectations. Regarding the points you raised: 1.Tour Timing & Itinerary: While the USS Midway visit was scheduled 80 minutes and Old Town 30 minutes, we regret that delays (due to other guests arriving late) impacted your experience. 2.Guide Communication & Comfort: We apologize if the guide’s English proficiency and introductions were insufficient. Clear communication is a priority, and we will reinforce this in training. 3.The air conditioning issue was due to a malfunction (the controls were unresponsive), not disregard for your request. We are addressing this with our vehicle maintenance team. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us improve. Please contact us at qc@uvbookings.com if you’d like to discuss this further. Thank you for your understanding, and we hope to serve you better in the future.

LA to San Diego: History, Harbor & USS Midway Magic in one day: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Newport Beach.

How much does LA to San Diego: History, Harbor & USS Midway Magic in one day cost?

    +

Prices start at $202 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Newport Beach usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does LA to San Diego: History, Harbor & USS Midway Magic in one day take?

    +

Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Newport Beach is not rushed.

Is LA to San Diego: History, Harbor & USS Midway Magic in one day worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 25 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Newport Beach, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule LA to San Diego: History, Harbor & USS Midway Magic in one day?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is LA to San Diego: History, Harbor & USS Midway Magic in one day suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book LA to San Diego: History, Harbor & USS Midway Magic in one day?

    +

Around 9 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Newport Beach can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Newport Beach and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does LA to San Diego: History, Harbor & USS Midway Magic in one day start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Newport Beach within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Newport Beach?

    +

Newport Beach runs year-round whale watching out of the harbour, duffy boat and sailing charters, Balboa Island walks and coastal e-bike rides toward Laguna. On Outty we rank every Newport Beach experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Escape Game: 60-Minute Adventures at Irvine Spectrum Center, Whale-Watching Cruise from Newport Beach, Electric Boat Rental in Newport Beach for Up to 12 People. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Newport Beach?

    +

December to April for grey whales, June to September for blue whales. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Newport Beach?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
