An Afternoon of Beauty and Nature

My husband and I did the "La Dolce Vita" tour with Allesandro and it really was a special afternoon. We explored the countryside just outside Lucca's historic district. We would have never found these magical and fragrant spots on our own. It was obvious that our guide is an expert at both the area's geography and history and he presents the information in an educational and entertaining way. He is also very knowledgeable about local flora and fauna. His English is excellent as was his driving as there is a short 10-15 minute drive to reach the walking/hiking trails. As I had a recent bout of tendinitis, Allesandro was observant enough to recognize my situation and modified our experience without sacrificing any of the beauty of Lucca's rural area.

Response from the operator: Thank you Rose and Joe! It was a joy to share the fragrant trails of the Lucchesia with you. I always make sure my tours are enjoyable and accessible for everyone, no matter the pace. I'm glad you had a special afternoon. Happy trails!

Great way to spend an afternoon in Lucca

Beautiful walk/ hike with a charming and knowledgeable guide. Would recommend to everyone. Particularly nice to get out of the city.

Response from the operator: Thanks for the kind words! It was a pleasure to show you the beauty beyond the city walls. Lucca’s hills offer amazing trails for hiking and biking that are often overlooked. I'm thrilled you didn't miss out on them!

    Great Tour/Great Experience.

This tour is fantastic. Federica was the guide and she brings the area to life! Federica is friendly, knowledgeable, shares the history, background and beauty of the area outside the walls of Lucca. The hike is accommodating to skill level and the views are spectacular. I highly recommend this tour to truly experience the history and beauty of Lucca.

Response from the operator: We are so happy to hear you had a fantastic experience on our 'Dolce Vita' tour, Jennifer! We loves showing guests that Lucca is much more than just its famous walls. It’s great to know that you appreciated the historical background and that the hike felt perfectly tailored to your pace. Those panoramic views over the olive groves truly are spectacular, and we’re glad they left such an impression. Thank you for the high recommendation!

Beautiful and interesting tour with an amazing guide

Federica was a most knowledgable and accommodating guide! She adjusted our itinerary to suit the 80 year age difference between our youngest and oldest hikers so that everyone found immense enjoyment. After lunch we even extended our time with her and also discovered the silk trade in Lucca. Looking forward to more hikes next time we're in Tuscany!

    Loved every minute of it!!!

My day with Federica was exquisite. I will never forget the experience. We went on a tour of some wonderfully old and beautiful Villas then we did a hike, all the while talking and chatting and getting to know one another Federica is so knowledgeable and clearly loves her hometown of Lucca. We ended the day with a visit to Francesca and Cosimo's wine vineyards where we ate and explored more. I highly recommend this experience!!

La Dolce Vita of the renaissance - Half-Day Walking Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lucca.

How much does La Dolce Vita of the renaissance - Half-Day Walking Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $108 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lucca usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does La Dolce Vita of the renaissance - Half-Day Walking Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lucca is not rushed.

Is La Dolce Vita of the renaissance - Half-Day Walking Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 64 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Lucca, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule La Dolce Vita of the renaissance - Half-Day Walking Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is La Dolce Vita of the renaissance - Half-Day Walking Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book La Dolce Vita of the renaissance - Half-Day Walking Tour?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lucca can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lucca and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does La Dolce Vita of the renaissance - Half-Day Walking Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lucca within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Lucca?

    +

On Outty we rank every Lucca experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Tuscan Wine Tour in Lucca by van, Lucca’s Ultimate Food Tour: Full Tuscan Meal by Do Eat Better, Lucca Bikes and Bites with food tastings for Small Groups or Private. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Lucca?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Lucca?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.

What is included in La Dolce Vita of the renaissance - Half-Day Walking Tour?

Included: Guide service. Not included: Hotel pickup and drop-off; and Private transportation. Always check the voucher for the final list before you travel.

    +
