Wonderful day tour and excellent guide!

You won't be sorry choosing this tour!! We had an excellent day touring Kyoto with Hiro! He was very helpful and communicative in setting up the itinerary for our day, listening to what we were interested in and giving guidance. Even the day of the tour he was flexible in locations and timing, and helped us chose a restaurant with the foods we wanted to try for lunch. He will travel at your pace. He is very knowledgeable about the area, history and culture which enriched our experience greatly. Hiro answered all questions we had to help us understand the area better. I highly recommend this tour with Hiro. He even took photos and sent them to us! We couldn't be happier with our day!

Response from the operator: Thank you very much for sharing a great time with me. I was happy to share local knowledge with you all. Yes, photography is one of my hobbies. I hope you like some of my pictures. See you someday somewhere! Hugs!

Highly recommended

It was my first trip to Japan and I had planned a one day tour in Kyoto with Hiroshi, but I ended up asking him for two more days and an additional day tour in Tokyo as well because I enjoyed his guiding style. Hiroshi is personable and knowledgeable. We covered city highlights, museums and nature outings. I found his style informative, stimulating and fun. When I asked for a nature trip he took me on a day trip to the neighboring Shiga prefecture for a mountain hike to see a waterfall. It was the highlight of my stay in Japan! He was patient: When I changed my mind he adjusted the tour several times to accommodate me. He is helpful and dependable. He helped me book train tickets and other transportation so my stay was less stressful. I enjoyed the information I learned about the many sites we visited. I especially enjoyed his enthusiasm when sharing his knowledge about the rich ocean life in Japan, as he has a scientific background in marine biology. I believe Hiroshi is great guide for travelers looking for short sightseeing, deep cultural immersion, culinary experience and nature adventures! Arigatou Gozaimasu Hiroshi !

Incredible!

Having a guide truly made our Kyoto experience amazing! Beyond what I expected. Having a knowledgeable guide took the stress off me and allowed me to really take in every part of the experience! I loved that he took pictures for us too! I rarely get to be in pictures as I’m always the one taking them. What an incredible guide!!

Response from the operator: Thank you very much for choosing HERO TOUR JAPAN. I also enjoyed sharing a happy time with your family. I hope all of your family got a positive memory of the Kyoto trip even this COVID tough situation. See you someday without masks! ;)

Perfect experience!!

What an incredible experience this was! I highly recommend anyone traveling to Kyoto or nearby cities have a tour guide! Our guide took the stress away from my hands and had everything beautifully planned out for us. He was so knowledgable and gave us such good recommendations for the rest of our stay. 100% recommend a guide!!

Response from the operator: I am sorry for very late responce. I realized I did not reply for long time. Thank you very much for choosing my tour. It was nice to walk with you through the historical area. I wish you could remember some positive things from Kyoto! Thank you!!

No show!!!!

I bought the tour, but could not get in touch with Hero Tours to set the pick-up place and time. He never responded to any of the multiple emails I sent. So, I got charged the money, but never got the tour or an apology. I have asked viator for a full refund. Do not recommend this company.

Response from the operator: I am really sorry about my fault. I somehow did not receive a notification about your booking this time. I will be careful not to happen again. So sorry again.

Kyoto welcome tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kyoto.

How much does Kyoto welcome tour cost?

+

Prices start at $55500 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kyoto usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Kyoto welcome tour take?

+

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kyoto is not rushed.

Is Kyoto welcome tour worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 35 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Kyoto, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Kyoto welcome tour?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Kyoto welcome tour suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Kyoto welcome tour?

+

Around 12 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kyoto can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kyoto and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Kyoto welcome tour start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kyoto within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Kyoto?

+

On Outty we rank every Kyoto experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Kyoto : Gion Make Your Own Chopsticks with Engraving Option, Award-Winning Authentic Ramen Making Experience in Kyoto, Hidden Kyoto E-Biking tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Kyoto?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Kyoto?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
