Great cooking!!!

This was a fantastic experience. Great fun and we were stuffed after! The chef was brilliant. The directions easy to follow. I am not a cook by any means but I will try these delicious dishes at home.

Highly Recommend for beginner and experienced chefs!

This experience was a highlight of our 12-night Celebrity cruise to Japan. Our group looks for ways to learn about the culture of the places we visit while also learning how to make some of the food we love back home. The English speaking tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. She acted as the interpreter for the chef we worked with, which I was concerned about at first, but was not an issue at all. We learned how to make ramen (we each had a chance to choose our own broth), gyoza and fried rice, then enjoy our creations as a hearty lunch. The restaurant/location of the experience was down an alley that we would not have been able to discover on our own, which made the entire excursion feel that much more exclusive. Don’t be scared of the “local feel” of the location - it’s not a professional, sterile kitchen, but one that is a local favorite of the people who know how ramen should taste! If you are someone who likes to recreate dishes when you return home, this is a must-do for you! Ramen, gyoza and fried rice are all relatively easy to make upon your return home and using the skills learned in class can be applied in your own kitchen with little need for additional equipment (although if you want to make the ramen noodles from scratch, you might have to invest in a noodle press). This is a 5-star experience that I would recommend to new and experienced chefs.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your detailed and wonderful review! We’re thrilled to hear that this cooking experience was one of the highlights of your Japan cruise. It’s fantastic to know that you enjoyed learning about Japanese culture while making ramen, gyoza, and fried rice, and that you appreciated being able to choose your own ramen broth. We’re also glad that our guide was able to make the communication with the chef smooth and enjoyable throughout the experience. Thank you again for your five-star recommendation! We hope you’ll have plenty of opportunities to put your new ramen, gyoza, and fried rice skills to use back home!

Fantastic Cooking Class with Great Insights into Japan!

We had an incredible time at this cooking class! Both our guide, Yumi, and the chef were exceptionally professional, clear, and engaging throughout the entire experience. Yumi was fantastic—not only did she flawlessly translate the chef’s instructions for every recipe, but she also shared wonderful insights and fun facts about Japanese culture and traditions. Highly recommended!

Kyoto Ramen and Gyoza Cooking Class with Professional Chefs: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kyoto.

How much does Kyoto Ramen and Gyoza Cooking Class with Professional Chefs cost?

+

Prices start at $1000 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kyoto usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Kyoto Ramen and Gyoza Cooking Class with Professional Chefs take?

+

Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kyoto is not rushed.

Is Kyoto Ramen and Gyoza Cooking Class with Professional Chefs worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 88 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 490 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Kyoto, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Kyoto Ramen and Gyoza Cooking Class with Professional Chefs?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Kyoto Ramen and Gyoza Cooking Class with Professional Chefs suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Kyoto Ramen and Gyoza Cooking Class with Professional Chefs?

+

Around 172 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kyoto can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kyoto and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Kyoto Ramen and Gyoza Cooking Class with Professional Chefs start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kyoto within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Kyoto?

+

On Outty we rank every Kyoto experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Kyoto : Gion Make Your Own Chopsticks with Engraving Option, Award-Winning Authentic Ramen Making Experience in Kyoto, Hidden Kyoto E-Biking tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Kyoto?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Kyoto?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
