Definitely Do Not Recommend. Cancelled day of.

Definitely don’t recommend. Was scheduled for a Monday tour, showed up and they said they moved me to Tuesday. No phone call, no message, just a generic message swapping the date with all the details. Absolutely unacceptable. I have had other tours change dates but they call or send a message through WhatsApp to confirm before changing. Extremely disappointed. Would have adjusted arrangements but now left with my last day and nothing to do.

Beware not as advertised

Beware!!!!First the length of the tour was wrong on the Viator site. It said 8 hours and it was going to be close to 11. When we went to rebook since we needed to get to a flight Viator sent a message to the tour person who never answered so we were not able to go. Getting a response from the tour provider was extremely difficult. We ended up getting a call The day we were supposed to go on the tour at 8:15 (the tour should have started at 7) Asking where we were. I have no idea which tour she was calling from because we didn’t get a confirmation from the tour provider that we had been changed. We will Be requesting our money back for this tour.

Bus drivers very informative

Great experience worth the trip up in the train, sadly the Skyrail was not working, but hartleys crocodile adventures made up for that and especially the free lunch vouchers

Response from the operator: Thank you for your wonderful feedback! We’re delighted to hear you had a great experience and enjoyed the train journey. We’re sorry the Skyrail wasn’t operating during your visit, but we’re pleased to hear that Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures helped make up for it. Thank you for joining us and for taking the time to share your experience. We hope to welcome you back in the future! Kind Regards, Grace Guest experience consultant

Down Under Tour - Does what it says on the Tin and more

Seamless customer service with Scott. Picked up at our collection point on time and enjoyed the full day efficient and enjoyable experience. Highly recommend this tour even though the Skyrail is being upgraded and not running. The lunch voucher was worth it as the food was high quality with the wagyu burger becoming a firm favourite. Everyone was very friendly and professional. Thanks to all involved.

The trip hadn’t even...

The trip hadn’t even started, and I was already feeling frustrated. My itinerary instructed me to meet at the Skyrail Cableway entrance, and riding the Skyrail was supposed to be part of the journey. However, when I arrived, I discovered that the cableway was closed for maintenance — yet it still appeared on my itinerary. There was no public toilet anywhere nearby. The only toilet at the Skyrail entrance was for staff, and even though I asked for help, I was refused. The nearest public toilet was about a 10‑minute taxi ride away, and because the area is rural, getting a taxi is extremely difficult. If the Skyrail is not operating, I don’t understand why the meeting point remains at a location with no facilities for customers. This poor arrangement made the start of the journey unnecessarily uncomfortable.

Response from the operator: Dear JJ_Q, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I appreciate your detailed feedback and sincerely regret that the start of your journey did not meet expectations. For this, please accept my sincere apologies. Your itinerary would have indicated that the meeting point was the Skyrail Cableway entrance as you would have booked a "self-drive" product which start and finish at Skyrail. The reason for this is the carpark is quite large so everyone can park their car in there. Despite your less than ideal start of the tour, I hope the rest of your day went well and made the most of it. Thank you Kind regards Nicolas Vernerey Operations Manager

Kuranda, Scenic Rail, Skyrail and Hartley's Crocodile Adventures: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cairns & the Tropical North.

How much does Kuranda, Scenic Rail, Skyrail and Hartley's Crocodile Adventures cost?

+

Prices start at $139 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cairns & the Tropical North usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Kuranda, Scenic Rail, Skyrail and Hartley's Crocodile Adventures take?

+

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cairns & the Tropical North is not rushed.

Is Kuranda, Scenic Rail, Skyrail and Hartley's Crocodile Adventures worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.2/5 across 38 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cairns & the Tropical North, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Kuranda, Scenic Rail, Skyrail and Hartley's Crocodile Adventures?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Kuranda, Scenic Rail, Skyrail and Hartley's Crocodile Adventures suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Kuranda, Scenic Rail, Skyrail and Hartley's Crocodile Adventures?

+

Around 13 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cairns & the Tropical North can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cairns & the Tropical North and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Kuranda, Scenic Rail, Skyrail and Hartley's Crocodile Adventures start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cairns & the Tropical North within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cairns & the Tropical North?

+

On Outty we rank every Cairns & the Tropical North experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Passions of Paradise Great Barrier Reef Cruise by Catamaran, Ocean Free: Small Group Great Barrier Reef & Green Island Tour, Ocean Freedom: Great Barrier Reef Stylish Snorkel, Dive Reef Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cairns & the Tropical North?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cairns & the Tropical North?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
