2. (Both Line-A & B) At Mt. Aso Naka-dake 1st Crater, travelers can witness one of Japan’s most active volcanic sites, located within the vast Aso Caldera. The crater's rugged landscape features smoke and steam rising from its depths, and on clear days, visitors can glimpse the emerald-green crater lake. The surrounding area showcases dramatic views of lava fields, volcanic rocks, and ash, shaped by past eruptions. Walking trails allow visitors to get close to the crater rim, offering an up-close experience of the volcanic activity. The Aso Volcano Museum nearby provides insights into the region’s geology. Access may be restricted depending on volcanic activity, so it’s important to check conditions before visiting. Aso Volcano-Nakadake Crater is free to explore, though other ticket fees are not included. If entry to the crater is banned due to volcanic activity, the itinerary will be adjusted accordingly. In case of restrictions, the visit to Kusa Senri will be extended to 90 minutes.

3. New Kusasenri

   (Both Line-A & B) Kusasenri, located on the northern slopes of Mt. Aso, is a vast grassy plain offering a striking contrast to the volcanic surroundings. The scenic landscape features rolling hills, small ponds, and panoramic views of Mt. Aso, with its smoking Naka-dake crater visible in the distance on clear days. Visitors can enjoy walking trails, horseback riding, and picnics while taking in the serene environment. The plain changes with the seasons, from vibrant green in spring and summer to golden in autumn. Kusasenri's volcanic soil adds to the unique beauty of the area. A small visitor center and observatory provide insights into the region’s volcanic activity, making it a peaceful yet fascinating destination amidst one of Japan’s most active volcanic landscapes. If entry to Aso Volcano is banned, the itinerary will be adjusted based on the situation. In case of restrictions on the crater, the time at Kusa Senri will be extended to 90 minutes. 4. Komezuka

   (Line A only)Komezuka can be admired from the comfort of your car as you drive through the Aso region. Its perfect, symmetrical cone shape, covered in lush green grass during spring and summer, makes it a striking sight against the surrounding volcanic landscape. Rising about 80 meters, the hill’s smooth, rice-bowl-like appearance stands out, creating a peaceful contrast to the rugged terrain of Mt. Aso. The scenic drive around Komezuka offers beautiful views of the Aso Caldera and nearby volcanic peaks, with the picturesque fields changing colors with the seasons, from vibrant green to golden in autumn.

The shrine's grounds feature traditional Japanese architecture, including a unique two-story Romon Gate, which is a designated Important Cultural Property.
