Amazing Day

This was such good tour with an amazing guide. The Batu caves were spectacular but the real highlights of the tour for me were the monkeys at Fort Altingsburg and the firefly boat cruise. Rajan was our tour guide and he was fantastic. He is a very knowledgeable guide, he passed on lots of interesting information about the area and was very helpful with things like taking photographs. Although it wasn’t part of the actual tour Rajan was able to help us get tickets to see the bioluminescent plankton while we were at the Firefly Park. Thanks Rajan for giving such an enjoyable experience.

Nice trip

It’s been a nice day trip, the driver was kind and professional, we added the eagle feeding experience (50r/person) which I don’t recommend it is nothing special. The dinner was good

Rainy day firefly experience

We did the fireflies with dinner only.....the weather had us worried because we got caught in full on torrential downpour on the roads.....but cleared up by the time we got to the boats. Still got to see decent amount of fireflies...started off pretty low count, but then as we floated along got to see more concentrated groups in the trees that made look like understated, elegant xmas lights.....;-) Our driver, Lawrence was very friendly and loved sharing his knowledge around the history of KL and Malaysia. Only suggestion would be to ensure that the complimentary water is kept cool.

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, and we're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the fireflies with dinner despite the initial weather concerns. We appreciate your positive feedback about the magical sight of the fireflies and the charming ambiance. It's fantastic to hear that Lawrence, your driver, added value to your experience by sharing his knowledge of the history of KL and Malaysia. We will pass along your compliments to him and acknowledge his efforts in making your journey informative and enjoyable. Your suggestion about ensuring that complimentary water is kept cool is valuable, and we will certainly look into improving this aspect to enhance the overall comfort of our guests. We truly value your feedback, and we hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again for another memorable experience in the future. If you have any further suggestions or if there's anything else we can do to make your next visit even more enjoyable, please feel free to let us know. Thank you again for choosing us, and we look forward to serving you in the future.

Overall poor

Overall an average experience. Picked up by tour guide Rajen and was briefed that we had only one attraction stop at a temple before the fireflies. When asked about visiting the Batu caves/ fort altingsburg as listed in the tour, Rajen just stated that there was not enough time. ( so why list it on the itinerary?) we were brought 2.5 hours early to the fireflies port before sunset. Rajen had absolutely no clue what we could do to kill the time in between. I asked him again regarding a visit to the fort, he tells me that it’s busy and not worth my time. I eventually tell him that I would rather spend time at the fort than wait around, he reluctantly agrees and sends us there- turns out the fort is lovely and there was plenty of time to have visited. The only saving grace of the tour was the fireflies as we were blessed with good weather that day. Wouldn’t suggest this tour for its price

Response from the operator: Dear Michaely, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We appreciate your honest feedback and apologize for any inconvenience you may have faced during the tour. We are genuinely sorry to hear about the issues you encountered with the itinerary and the miscommunication with our tour guide, Rajen. Your concerns regarding the visit to the Batu Caves/Fort Altingsburg are valid, and we understand how important it is to deliver on the promised itinerary. We will certainly review and revise our tour descriptions to ensure accurate information is provided to future guests. We regret any confusion regarding the timing and activities during the tour. Your feedback has been shared with our team, and we will take steps to better educate our guides on alternative activities or options during unexpected downtime. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the fireflies part of the tour and that the weather was favorable. However, we acknowledge that your overall experience fell short of expectations. We take customer feedback seriously, and we are committed to improving our services based on your valuable input. Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused, and we hope that you may consider giving us another opportunity to provide you with a more seamless and enjoyable experience in the future. Thank you for bringing these matters to our attention, and we appreciate your understanding. Best regards.

Kuala Selangor Sunset & Fireflies Tour with Fort Altingsburg: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kuala Lumpur.

How much does Kuala Selangor Sunset & Fireflies Tour with Fort Altingsburg cost?

+

Prices start at $30 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kuala Lumpur usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Kuala Selangor Sunset & Fireflies Tour with Fort Altingsburg take?

+

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kuala Lumpur is not rushed.

Is Kuala Selangor Sunset & Fireflies Tour with Fort Altingsburg worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.9/5 across 16 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Kuala Lumpur, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Kuala Selangor Sunset & Fireflies Tour with Fort Altingsburg?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Kuala Selangor Sunset & Fireflies Tour with Fort Altingsburg suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Kuala Selangor Sunset & Fireflies Tour with Fort Altingsburg?

+

Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kuala Lumpur can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kuala Lumpur and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Kuala Selangor Sunset & Fireflies Tour with Fort Altingsburg start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kuala Lumpur within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Kuala Lumpur?

+

On Outty we rank every Kuala Lumpur experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Sambal Streets Kuala Lumpur Food Tour with 15+ Tastings, Genting Highland & Batu Cave Guided Day Tour (SIC/Shared Tour), Private Half-Day Batu Caves and Cutural Tour in Kuala Lumpur. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Kuala Lumpur?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Kuala Lumpur?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
