Krasnaya Sloboda, known as a unique place in Azerbaijan, is located on the opposite bank of the Gudyalchay River from the city of Guba. This settlement is the only one in the region where the Jewish population has been preserved since ancient times. The history of the settlement dates back to the 18th century, when the first Jewish families arrived. Since then, the settlement has flourished, preserving its traditions and culture despite the centuries-old changes.

Operator Changed the Tour
After booking this specific tour months in advance, and planning an extra day in Baku just to take the tour, we were notified just 2 days before the tour that we could not go into the synagogue, just walk down the street and take photos from the outside. $300 to take a photo?! We should have been notified of the situation weeks or even months in advance, not with less than 48 hours notice. Of course, we canceled the tour.
