Start your tour by walking through the gate to the first camp - Auschwitz I - originally conceived as a concentration camp, to be used as a detention centre for the many Polish citizens arrested after Germany annexed the country in 1939, with the most recognizable sign Arbeit Macht Frei (Work Makes You Free).This part usually takes 2 hours and you will be using a headset to hear your guide clearly. The group according to the Museum’s rule counts up to 30 people making the visit comfortable and accessible for every participant. Visit the original wooden buildings, fortified walls, barbed wires, gas chambers and crematoria - all of those leave a shocking impression allowing to imagine the scale of Holocaust.

After the 1st camp short break up to 15 minutes is planned. You will be taken by us to visit the second part of the tour - Birkenau (Auschwitz II), only 3 minutes away, which is the largest camp built and operated for the specific purpose of making Europe ''Judenrein'' (free of Jews). The same guide continues a poignant lecture about the camp in the village Brzezinka (Birkenau) which was constructed in 1941 on the order of Heinrich Himmler (SS commander) and could hold some 90 000 prisoners.You will be told about terrible stories of unimaginable living conditions as well as cruel selection and pseudo-scientific medical experiments made by prominent Nazi doctors including Josef Mengele. A history about soldiers of the 60th Army of the First Ukrainian Front opened the gates of Auschwitz on January 27, 1945, which meant the final liberation, ends your tour with a feeling, both this genocide should never have happened and it can not happen again.

Very disappointing.
I had a very disappointing experience on 5/10/26. We waited at designated spot it said to on our booking for 11.30. We arrived 25 mins early to make sure we got the right location. On the booking it stated to get on coach 2 saying Hello Cracow. There was loads of people waiting and there was several coaches pulling in for different tours. We saw one coach that had a big number 1 at the top of the bus (which we all can confirm who got left behind). So we all presumed ..oh coach 2 won’t be long after. Little did we know we were ment to be on that coach and realised when no other coach came for us. It’s a shame as we had no call out or no approach to even tell us coach 2 is also on that coach. After they left there was around 10 in total missed from this tour so it’s not even like it’s our mistake. This happened to a few people so clearly was the tours fault. We got in contact with the tour guide and they sent a picture that nobody was stood next to the coach. However in this photo I’m stood clearly waiting for a coach yet not been approached. Neither was the couple sat on the bench next to the coach. It’s a shame as we came for krakow for this and it was sad that we didn’t get the chance as it was the day before we flew back. Seem as tho 10 people was stood waiting they could have sent another coach back for us but they didn’t even try to help us. We have not seen a full refund and I can understand it’s not Viator’s fault as this was only the booking platform. This was a shame and just want to make others aware to check every number coach even if it’s not your stated number on your booking reference.

Skip this tour!
Very rushed tour and tour guide gives dramatic statements like “imagine a long ride and you’re tired..” instead of giving facts about the events. We were able to read more about the camps than what was provided by tour guide. The ride was long and the guides gave little time for bathroom breaks with the long lines it was always a rush. Not enjoyable experience at all.
