We booked using our go city passes and this was the one thing my kids were most excited about. They send you these medical waivers which we signed but apparently that’s not sufficient to go on the tour. You have to send a text message the day before to reconfirm your booking. Who does that? We were staying in Waikiki and we drove more than an hour to get to this location and paid for the fishing license for 6 people for nothing. They didn’t respond until after the tour time saying they canceled the tour because I didn’t send a TEXT message. This place is a scam and waste of money and precious vacation time.

Response from the operator: The tour you booked was at 9am-10:30.We did not cancel your tour. You did not arrive to your tour. You were mistaken and thought your tour was at 10:30am. We ask you to confirm the day before as it clearly states in the confirmation email AND the waivers you signed that you apparently did not read in full detail, that when you confirm, we send you the exact details and location as we don’t have an office, we have several fishing locations we fish from. You did not confirm the location. Nor did you show up to your tour that was booked at 9am. We did not cancel, you MISSED your tour. If you would have confirmed and listened to the instructions, you would have realized the time that you booked and been able to be on the tour. Mahalo.

Bad booking

We tried to book a fishing experience online. They had availability for the next morning so we booked and bought fishing licenses. Right after we booked and paid for our $20 fishing licenses, they told us they actually did not have availability! They refunded our booking, but they wasted our money and time regarding the fishing licenses. Hopefully they can update their online booking systems better. Try to book via phone instead.

Extremely Disappointed – Not Worth the Time or Money

We booked this thrift Oahu Go City. This experience was a complete letdown. My boys didn’t catch a single thing, and neither did the other couple fishing alongside us. The so-called “expert guide” appeared to be around 15 or 16 years old, hardly what you'd expect from a professional service. We were promised a session of over two hours, but it barely lasted one hour. We drove all the way across the island for this — a total waste of valuable vacation time. To make matters worse, we had to pay to make the reservation and were told we’d be refunded after the gear was checked for damages. Nothing was broken, no damages whatsoever, yet here we are over two weeks later with no refund. No replies to voicemails or phone calls either. Completely unprofessional. I'll be disputing the charge with my bank. Do yourself a favor and skip this — your vacation time and money are better spent elsewhere.

You can also see in other reviews that “Ashton” is a wonderful guide. So please see below! That’s the name of the game with fishing. There are no “guarantees” to catch fish. Otherwise it would be called “catching” and not “fishing. Unfortunately with your tour, you were not as lucky as some of the rest of our groups. And that’s okay. Also per your reservation, it clearly stated the time you would be fishing 1.5 hours. It also states that directly on the go city website and we send you an email showing the time your tour begins and the time your tour ends. As far as the refund, you were in fact refunded for the deposit. Deposits do take time to process depending on your bank, that is notated when making a reservation with us. You’ll need to recheck on that as on our end, it shows refunded. Mahalo

Great Catch

Great experience. Guide Ashton was very helpful and great with my 11 year old son. We caught 4 fish total and enjoyed our time.

Terrible experience with this company!

Be warned - do not trust this tour company. We booked this tour using our Go City passes, but you have to use your credit card to reserve your booking. The tour's policy states that if you cancel 48 hours before your tour you will not be charged. We followed the tour's instructions and cancelled our booking more than a week in advance. Even though we cancelled, the company charged us for the full tour. I contacted the company (they only responded after several attempts) and showed them my cancellation notice that was date and time stamped but they refused to acknowledge it and provide a refund. Again, do not trust this company. They are not and honest vendor.
