Excellent day trip with a strong focus on reef protection

A fantastic five-star day trip to Koh Tao and Koh Nang Yuan. Everything was extremely well organised, from the efficient hotel pick-up and drop-off to the comfortable, good-quality speedboat. The staff were lovely throughout, especially our tour guide, Kevin. I was particularly impressed by how seriously the team took the environmental impact of snorkelling. Their guidance about protecting the coral reefs was clear and genuinely woven into the experience—not treated as a token message. The team also took time to photograph us at the viewpoints, which was a thoughtful touch. Lunch on Koh Tao was simple but fresh and enjoyable. Overall, it was a really well-run, memorable day with beautiful scenery, colourful marine life and a responsible approach to tourism. I would highly recommend this trip.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for this wonderful five-star review! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed your day trip to Koh Tao and Koh Nang Yuan, and especially appreciate your kind words about Kevin and our team. Protecting the coral reefs and marine environment is very important to us, so it means a lot to know that our responsible tourism message was genuinely part of your experience. We’re also happy you enjoyed the scenery, lunch, and the little photo moments along the way. Thank you for recommending us, and we hope to welcome you back to Koh Samui again soon! 🌴 Best regards, Tony & the Backpacker Samui Travel Team Koh Samui, Thailand

    Very crowded boat for...

Very crowded boat for long journeys to and from islands. The journeys were pretty unenjoyable with many passengers not happy.

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry to hear that the boat felt too crowded and that the long journeys to and from Koh Tao were not enjoyable for you. Koh Tao is one of the most popular snorkeling destinations from Koh Samui, and travel time is longer than our other island tours. We understand that comfort during the crossing is an important part of the experience, especially when the sea is not perfectly calm. Your comments have been noted and will be shared with our operations team as we continuously work to improve our service and guest comfort. We appreciate your feedback and hope to have the opportunity to provide you with a better experience on a future visit to Koh Samui. Lots of potential, but disappointing

This had all the promise of a truly fab day out. But it ended up feeling like a big let down. The weather was windy. The seas were rough. Many people felt sick. Including me. Koh Tao was 90 minutes on very bumpy seas and when we arrived it felt like an overcrowded tourist spot. The nice part of the ocean was crammed with people. The sand very uncomfortable to walk on. It might have been nicer with better weather. But it felt Disneyland. The lunch stop was fine. Lunch was fine. Back in the boat. The first bay was ok. We swam but the wind and current was very strong. The second bay was not as rough or windy. We swam. The colour of the ocean was gorgeous. The water a perfect temperature. The trip back for over 90 minutes was awful. The skipper was clear very very skilled. But the seas were rough and it was very uncomfortable I’m not sure if we just licked a really bad day or if it is often wing and rough like this. The two bays would have been great on a nice day. But Koh Tao I wouldn’t want to visit again.

Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We are very sorry to hear that the sea conditions on the day of your tour did not meet your expectations. The route to Koh Tao is considerably longer than our other island tours, and when strong winds and rough seas occur, the journey can unfortunately become uncomfortable, even though our captain and crew always operate with safety as the highest priority. We appreciate your kind comments about the crew’s skill, the lunch stop, and the beautiful water conditions at the second snorkeling bay. Your observation is correct that weather plays a major role in the overall experience, and on calmer days the bays and snorkeling areas are usually much more enjoyable. We also understand your disappointment with the crowd levels at Koh Nang Yuan, especially during busy travel periods. This is valuable feedback, and we will continue working to provide the best possible experience for our guests. Thank you again for traveling with us, and we hope you may have the opportunity to enjoy Koh Samui and its surrounding islands again under better weather conditions. Would not recommend

Rushed Overcrowded Poor snorkelling First impressions were very disappointing and things did not improve

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are truly sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. We understand how disappointing it can feel when a tour seems rushed, crowded, or when the snorkeling conditions are not as enjoyable as hoped. During high season, popular destinations such as Koh Tao and Koh Nang Yuan can become busy, and sea conditions and underwater visibility may also vary from day to day. Your comments are important to us, and we will share them with our operations team to review the tour flow, group management, and overall guest experience. We always aim to provide a well-organized trip with enough time for relaxation and snorkeling, and we regret that this was not your impression. Thank you again for taking the time to leave your review. We appreciate your honest feedback and will use it to help improve our service for future guests.

    Nice snorkling trip

Everything was very well organised. Nice snorkling spots. The guides were amazing and Kathun took my son on a haik on Koh Nang Yuan and that island was so beautiful. The weather was not great so there was big waves, so we got very wet/sprayed with water on the way out, better om the way back. I especially want to thank the boat staff for helping me on and off the boat, since I don’t have strong legs. I recommend this trip!

Response from the operator: Thank you for your lovely review and recommendation! We're delighted you enjoyed the snorkeling spots and the beautiful views at Koh Nang Yuan. We'll be sure to pass your kind words to Kathun and our boat crew, they'll be thrilled to know they made your experience special. We're also glad our team could assist you getting on and off the boat safely, especially in the rough sea conditions. We hope to welcome you and your family back for another adventure in calmer weather!

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Koh Samui.

How much does Koh Samui: Koh Tao & Koh Nang Yuan Snorkeling Tour by Speed Boat cost?

    +

Prices start at $65 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Koh Samui usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Koh Samui: Koh Tao & Koh Nang Yuan Snorkeling Tour by Speed Boat take?

    +

Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Koh Samui is not rushed.

Is Koh Samui: Koh Tao & Koh Nang Yuan Snorkeling Tour by Speed Boat worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 75 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 137 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Koh Samui, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Koh Samui: Koh Tao & Koh Nang Yuan Snorkeling Tour by Speed Boat?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Koh Samui: Koh Tao & Koh Nang Yuan Snorkeling Tour by Speed Boat suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Koh Samui: Koh Tao & Koh Nang Yuan Snorkeling Tour by Speed Boat?

    +

Around 48 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Koh Samui can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Koh Samui and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Koh Samui: Koh Tao & Koh Nang Yuan Snorkeling Tour by Speed Boat start and how do I get there?

    +

What are the best things to do in Koh Samui?

    +

On Outty we rank every Koh Samui experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Angthong National Marine Park VIP Small Group Tour, Cooking Class in Koh Samui with Micro Organic Garden, Half Day Elephant Home Sanctuary in Samui. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Koh Samui?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Koh Samui?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
