Excellent workshop!
The workshop was a very good experience. The instructors are excellent teachers, very patient, and one of the two translates into English very well so you don’t miss any detail. We brought our own old knives and they were considerate and kind in teaching us how to sharpen them, even though it wasn’t part of the workshop’s original plan. We highly recommend it.
Response from the operator: What a lovely review! Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We are overjoyed that our clear instruction and detailed translation made you feel so comfortable. It was a treat for our team to guide you through sharpening your own personal knives! Thank you for your high recommendation of Kappodo. We hope to see you again on your next trip to Japan!

Knife sharpening
An informative 1/2 hour tutorial and practical session to learn how to sharpen kitchen knives. Good interactive instruction and sharp knives at the finish. I now have a much better understanding of how to sharpen my knives effectively. A good selection of knives in the shop as well. A bonus: this shop is on the way to Nezu museum so you can combine the two.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your thoughtful review! We are delighted that the 30-minute session helped you understand how to sharpen your knives effectively. It’s also great to hear you enjoyed our selection of knives! As you mentioned, we are perfectly located for a visit to the Nezu Museum, and we’re glad you could combine the two. We hope your knives stay sharp and serve you well at home!

A course perfect for the uninitiated novice
I stumbled upon an excellent skills course perfect for the uninitiated seeking forbidden knowledge. Even with zero prior experience, the path was clear—the tutors were true masters, sharing their wisdom through flawless English translations. But here is where the mystery deepens: by some twist of fate, our party of two were the only souls present. We received exclusive, personal attention from the experts, as if the stars had aligned just for us! This was no mere lecture; it was a hands-on initiation. We rolled up our sleeves and delved deep into the practice. I emerged from the experience not just satisfied, but empowered with the skills to replicate our successes within the walls of my own home. If you seek to master a new craft away from the prying eyes of the world, this is the place. But be warned... once you learn these secrets, there’s no going back!
Response from the operator: We are honored that you chose Kappodo for your "initiation" into the secret arts of the Japanese blade! It seems the stars truly aligned for your private session with our masters. Now that you possess this "forbidden knowledge," we know your home cooking will never be the same. Use your new skills wisely—there’s no going back to ordinary knives now!

Why this scores 56
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Knife Sharpening Experience in Tokyo: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tokyo.
How much does Knife Sharpening Experience in Tokyo cost?
+
Prices start at $3300 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tokyo usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Knife Sharpening Experience in Tokyo take?
+
Plan for about 0.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tokyo is not rushed.
Is Knife Sharpening Experience in Tokyo worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Tokyo, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Knife Sharpening Experience in Tokyo?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Knife Sharpening Experience in Tokyo suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 0.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Knife Sharpening Experience in Tokyo?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tokyo can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tokyo and add a light layer if any part of the 0.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Knife Sharpening Experience in Tokyo start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tokyo within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Tokyo?
+
Tokyo is less a city than a stack of neighborhoods with completely different opening hours. A guided food crawl through Shinjuku's Omoide Yokocho gets you past the no-tourist curtains, while the day trips west to Hakone and Fuji need an early start to be worth the fare. Our ranking weighs guide quality heavily here, because in Tokyo the guide is the product. On Outty we rank every Tokyo experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Tokyo Shinjuku Chopsticks Making Class, Tokyo : Asakusa Chopsticks Making Class, Shinjuku Night Food and Bar Crawl. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Tokyo?
+
Late March to May for blossom, October to November for clear Fuji views. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Tokyo?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
