About this experience
Begin your journey with a walking tour through one of Athens’ most authentic neighborhoods, where ancient history meets modern Greek life. As we stroll among olive trees, you’ll learn about Greece’s deep-rooted olive culture and the life cycle of the olive tree; from pruning and blossom to harvest. We’ll then continue to the tasting session, where you’ll discover the main stages of olive oil production and master the official tasting technique used by professionals. You’ll learn how to distinguish extra virgin from virgin olive oil and the best way to store it at home. Taste three distinct extra virgin olive oils, each representing a different variety and region of Greece. To complete the experience, enjoy a Greek-style lunch, where every dish is thoughtfully paired with the olive oils explored during the tasting.

A cannot miss experience!
This was an unforgettable experience that should not be missed. Thalia was very knowledgeable about olive oil and the area we toured. The final tasting was so much fun and very educational. She definitely changed my opinion on the difference in olive oils. The final food pairing lunch at Meigma was so much fun. We could have spent way more time just talking tasting oils and eating. A must in Athens!

Helping guests discover the incredible diversity of flavors and aromas in olive oil is one of my favorite parts of the tasting. Thank you for choosing to spend part of your time in Athens with me. The BEST Olive Oil experience!
1000% recommend. Thalia is incredibly kind and a pleasure to spend time with. She makes you feel like a friend from the moment you meet her. She is knowledgeable, passionate and energetic regarding all things olive oil! She makes you want to learn and keeps you engaged the entire day. The food is incredible as well! Her attention to detail is appreciated. We loved everything about our time together. The tour is appropriate for people of all ages/she makes the whole process very approachable. We stayed for hours after the tour just to spend more time in her company. She is an absolute GEM and we could not recommend her enough!
Response from the operator: Chelsea, reading your review brought the biggest smile to my face! Thank you so much for your incredibly kind words. What touched me most is hearing that you felt like a friend from the moment we met, because that is exactly how I felt about you too. Some guests come to learn about olive oil, but every now and then, a connection goes beyond the tasting itself, and our time together was definitely one of those occasions. Thank you for your curiosity, your enthusiasm, and for embracing every part of the experience. It was such a joy sharing stories, flavors, and conversations with you and Mike. The fact that we ended up spending hours together after the tour is one of my favorite memories as well. Thank you for choosing to spend part of your Athens adventure with me and for taking the time to write such a thoughtful review. I hope our paths cross again someday, whether in Greece or somewhere else in the world. Until then, keep exploring, tasting, and enjoying life's beautiful flavors! With lots of gratitude, Thalia

More Than a Tasting — A True Greek Experience
Thalia was a wonderful olive oil sommelier. She was knowledgeable, engaging, and her English was very clear and easy to understand. This was one of our favorite adventures during our visit to Greece. The experience was a delightful way to taste traditional Greek foods while learning about the importance of the olive tree in Greek culture and history. We left with a whole new appreciation for olive oil — not only how it is produced, but also how to properly buy, taste, and use it in our own home-cooked meals. The class was both informative and enjoyable, and we would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Greece.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your beautiful review and for your kind words. It truly means a lot to know that this was one of your favorite experiences during your time in Greece. I’m especially happy that you all left with a deeper appreciation for olive oil, Greek culture, and the traditions connected to it. It was such a pleasure hosting you, and I’m so glad you enjoyed both the educational and culinary side of the experience together. Wishing you many wonderful meals and olive oil moments back home! Warmly, Thalia

Essential Greek cultural experience!
This was one of our favorite experiences in our 12 day tour of Greece! We learned so much about olive oil and the knowledge will be informing our culinary creations from now on! Thalia was absolutely delightful and so much fun! She offers a fabulous tour and olive tasting experience. History lovers exploring Ancient Greece should definitely incorporate this special and interesting aspect of Greek culture because olives and the olive industry have contributed significantly. Plus, this tour is DELICIOUS! It ends with an olive pairing experience at an incredible local restaurant. Don’t miss it!

Thank you so much for your beautiful words. It means a lot to know that this experience was one of your favorite moments in Greece. I’m especially happy that what you learned about olive oil will continue to inspire your culinary creations back home. It was such a pleasure sharing this special part of Greek culture with you, and I’m so glad you enjoyed the tasting and pairing experience. Wishing you all the best, and I hope to welcome you back to Greece someday! Warmly, Thalia

Why this scores 66
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Keramikos Olive Oil Experience & Walking Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Athens.
How much does Keramikos Olive Oil Experience & Walking Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $90 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Athens usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Keramikos Olive Oil Experience & Walking Tour take?
+
Plan for about 3.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Athens is not rushed.
Is Keramikos Olive Oil Experience & Walking Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 10 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Athens, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Keramikos Olive Oil Experience & Walking Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Keramikos Olive Oil Experience & Walking Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Keramikos Olive Oil Experience & Walking Tour?
+
Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Athens can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Athens and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Keramikos Olive Oil Experience & Walking Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Athens within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Athens?
+
On Outty we rank every Athens experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Athens Small Group E-Bike Tour, Small Group Greek Traditional Food Tour in Athens 20+ Tastings, Athens Scenic Bike Tour with Regular or Electric Bike + Acropolis. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Athens?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Athens?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
