Unique and amazing day!!
This was truly a unique and wonderful experience. Had two teenagers with us, but honestly could work with younger kids on a two person kayak. The mangrove forest was so unique and beautiful. Victor taught us all about the environment in this location as well as snapping a few amazing drone pictures of us. Having lunch with the fishermen in their village was such a treat as well. We would all recommend this experience a million times!!!!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review and for sharing your experience with us! We are so happy to hear that you and your family enjoyed your time exploring the mangrove forest. It truly is a special ecosystem, and we're glad that Victor was able to share its unique beauty and importance with you. It's also great to know that the drone photos helped capture some memorable moments from your adventure. We're especially happy that you enjoyed visiting the fishermen's village and sharing a local lunch there. Connecting our guests with the local community and culture is an important part of the experience, and we're delighted that it was such a highlight for your family. Thank you for your kind recommendation and for trusting us with part of your vacation. We hope to welcome you back again someday for another adventure in Costa Maya!

Peaceful kayaking and a delicious meal
We had a great time on our tour of the Costa Maya mangroves. Highlights included learning how to properly harvest a coconut for its water and meat. After that, we went kayaking through the mangroves while a local family cooked a fresh fish and coconut rice meal using the coconut we prepared. The mangroves were very peaceful and serene, while the water was interestingly red due to the rainy season. Afterward, we returned to the beachhouse where the meal was being prepared and let the kids explore the beach. There was a surprising amount of seashells and coral scattered along the beach that the kids enjoyed discovering. After the beach, we had the freshly prepared fish meal, where we got to make tacos with the rice, pico, and delicious salsa. Our guide, Victor, was very friendly and knowledgeable. It is obvious that he has a passion for conservation and helping out his community. We really enjoyed our time and wish Victor the best.
Response from the operator: We are so happy to share our customers uniques experiences like this one and we are even happier to read that your family really enjoyed. Thanks for sharing and all the best from paradise.

Kayaking the Mangroves
By far the best trip you'll ever get. Sofia takes you away from the tourist area and makes you feel like a friend. We had an entire beach to ourselves!

Why this scores 59
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Kayaking in the Mangroves Experience: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Costa Maya.
How much does Kayaking in the Mangroves Experience cost?
+
Prices start at $100 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Costa Maya usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Kayaking in the Mangroves Experience take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Costa Maya is not rushed.
Is Kayaking in the Mangroves Experience worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Costa Maya, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Kayaking in the Mangroves Experience?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Kayaking in the Mangroves Experience suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Kayaking in the Mangroves Experience?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Costa Maya can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Costa Maya and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Kayaking in the Mangroves Experience start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Costa Maya within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Costa Maya?
+
On Outty we rank every Costa Maya experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Chacchoben & Bacalar Combo Excursion Costa Maya, Costa Maya Shore Excursion Chacchoben Day Trip, Chacchoben Mayan Ruins from Costa Maya. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Costa Maya?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Costa Maya?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
What is included in Kayaking in the Mangroves Experience?
+
Included: Transportation, drinks, snacks and certified guide. Not included: Tips. Always check the voucher for the final list before you travel.
Does Kayaking in the Mangroves Experience include hotel pickup?

What languages is Kayaking in the Mangroves Experience offered in?
+

+
