Good experience
Dropped by the surf shop looking for a unique hoodie for grandchild. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Not much selection for youth but it is a surf shop.
Response from the operator: Mahalo for the kind words! Oh man we are just coming out the other side of a busy summer season, and our stocks are a little depleted for sure, especially the keiki merch. We have more arriving soon, if you want you can keep an eye on tamba.com, we do a good job with online orders too. Shoots!

Tampa yessah!
Love this place. Great staff and the rentals were perfect. We love representing Tamba stickers on our cars in the bay area ca.
Response from the operator: Mahalo for dat! This summer has been fantastic, coz of people like you. We really appreciate the kind words and look forward to seeing you next time. Shoots!

Great People to Work With!
We were having a very difficult trip with the weather and the some lodging challenges and Tamba worked was really friendly and helpful each time we talked with them! I also saw their shop's stickers all around the island of Kaua'i. They seem like a great company with lots of local knowledge and connections and support.
Response from the operator: Mahalo for the kind review! If I recall correctly, you started out camping and that kind of went haywire. Really hope you had a good time on Kaua'i, and glad you came to Tamba too. We'll look for you on your next visit. Aloha!

Tamba Served @thesurferfam Perfectly!
What a great place to rent boards! We got four surfboards and 4 boogie boards for a week. Saa, the owner, helped us out and gave me simple instructions for strapping the boards onto our rental minivan. (SUPER easy and the boards did great up there.) The board selection was very diverse and he gave some recommendations based on our experience level and conditions. We ended up with a 9’ epoxy, 2 soft tops (7’ and 8’), and a short board (about 5’ 3”). Three of my kids caught the waves of their lives at Hanalei Bay yesterday. So cool! We had to get some Tamba merch when we got back. Shirts, hats, and stickers. We hope to be back! In the meantime, we’ll be repping the brand on Cali’s Central Coast!
Response from the operator: Perfect! Really glad you had such a great time. Being on the east side of island makes Tamba's location well-suited for picking up and dropping off rentals, no matter where you will surf. And of course, can always reserve select boards right here on Viator/Trip Advisor. Looking forward to seeing you next time you visit.

Best surf shop on the island
We come to Kauai every year and I always rent a board from Tamba for the week. They let you change out boards if you want and are super friendly. Plus the shop has awesome clothes and hats.
Response from the operator: Appreciate the kind feedback, Shawn! Yup, can swap out boards during rental period, no extra charge. And we're adding more rental boards to our quiver too, so the selection is growing. We'll look for ya next year. Mahalo Nui!

Why this scores 66
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Kaua’i Surfboard Rentals: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kauai.
How much does Kaua’i Surfboard Rentals cost?
+
Prices start at $30 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kauai usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Kaua’i Surfboard Rentals take?
+
Plan for about 24 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kauai is not rushed.
Is Kaua’i Surfboard Rentals worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Kauai, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Kaua’i Surfboard Rentals?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Kaua’i Surfboard Rentals suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 24-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Kaua’i Surfboard Rentals?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kauai can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kauai and add a light layer if any part of the 24-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Kaua’i Surfboard Rentals start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kauai within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Kauai?
+
Kauai sells Na Pali Coast boat and helicopter tours, Waimea Canyon drives, tubing through old plantation ditches and Hanalei kayak trips. Ocean conditions shut down the north shore boat runs in winter, so cancellation terms matter. On Outty we rank every Kauai experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Koloa Zipline in Kauai, Kauai: NaPali Boat Tour on the Amelia K, Kauai: Secret Falls Kayak and Hike. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Kauai?
+
April to June and September to October, with calmest seas in summer. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Kauai?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
