    Not Beginner Friendly

Worst tourist experience ever. I won’t say borderline racist but you can tell the crew is more friendly with certain racial groups. They don’t say anywhere in the ads or confirmation that this is not beginner friendly. And they blame you for that. Not worth the time and money.

    Butt seriously....great time and crew.

OMG - Great experience and wonderfullall woman crew. Our group is still talking about Hannah. She has a tremendous asset of communication. She bent over backwards to make sure we had a good time. Our husbands had a great time too. They were behind this experience all the way! Recommend sitting in the rear of the boat. They served lovely Spam rolls which had a meaty bottom. We were sad on the trip back while our husbands kept a lookout for pirate's booty. High recommend. Say hello to Hannah!

An Amazing Day! Snorkeling, Plenty of Fish, Turtles, AND Barry!

My friends booked this trip. They had been to Kaneohe, before kayaking. They thought this time that renting a pontoon boat for the four of us would be the way to go. So, we drove from Waikiki, to enjoy the day snorkeling. We arrived at the harbor, which was pretty empty as it was a week day and therefore had plenty of parking. In front of our car an ‘open party boat’ docked and disgorged what seemed like hundreds of guests: in actuality only about 30. I was not looking forward to being on a boat with so many people. That wasn’t in fact our chartered boat that we’d be going on. Our boat was on the other side of the dock. Although smaller it was plenty spacious for the four of us and perhaps could have held maybe ten people. It was clean and looked in perfect shape - it was in that word, perfect. A man was on the boat and ready for us to board. He was our skipper for the day. His name was (is) Barry. He was a great captain and possessed a wonderful personality. Just having him take us out would have been a worthwhile trip. But it got even better. Barry, took us to the sandbar and anchored us in about three feet of water. We saw many green sea turtles on the way. As we got ready he went over to the ‘storage barge’ and brought over a paddle board for us to play with . We walked around on the sand bar and settled in. Next we snorkled. Captain Bruce, does provide equipment if needed. We brought our own. We swam along the drop off along the reef where we saw many species of fish and even more turtles. After returning to the boat a good variety of snacks and drinks were provided. Close to the time we needed to be back we cruised the sandbar. Barry, had previously seen manta rays in the last week or two, so we went in search of them. We were not disappointed and saw a dozen or so rays displaying courtship behavior at the surface. Although not a part of the planned outing, we were also treated to many varieties of military aircraft at low altitude practicing take-offs and landings at the local military installation. It was an amazing day and I would HIGHLY recommend Captain Bruce Charters. Especially if you are lucky enough to have Barry, as your skipper.

Response from the operator: We will make sure to share your review with Barry! From the moment you boarded to the manta rays displaying courtship behavior at the surface, it sounds like the day kept getting better and better. A dozen or so rays is an incredibly rare treat, and we are so glad Barry knew just where to find them. Thank you for choosing our private cruise and for taking the time to leave such a wonderfully detailed review. We hope to welcome you and your friends back again soon. A hui hou 🌺

Kaneohe Sandbar Morning Snorkeling Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Oahu.

How much does Kaneohe Sandbar Morning Snorkeling Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $175 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Oahu usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Kaneohe Sandbar Morning Snorkeling Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 2.8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Oahu is not rushed.

Is Kaneohe Sandbar Morning Snorkeling Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 101 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Oahu, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Kaneohe Sandbar Morning Snorkeling Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Kaneohe Sandbar Morning Snorkeling Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Kaneohe Sandbar Morning Snorkeling Tour?

    +

Around 35 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Oahu can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Oahu and add a light layer if any part of the 2.8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Kaneohe Sandbar Morning Snorkeling Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Oahu within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Oahu?

    +

On Outty we rank every Oahu experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Oahu: Full or Half Day Grand Circle Island Tour, Oahu Small-Group Circle Island Tour with Turtle Snorkeling, Pearl Harbor Remembered Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Oahu?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Oahu?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
