⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The absolute best experience in Japan! Highly recommended!
We wanted to thank Chef Suiji once more for an unforgettable night! You truly gave us the best experience in Japan so far! We enjoyed it so, so, so much and we will never forget it.From the very first moment, Chef Suiji welcomed us into his kitchen as friends and made us feel completely at home. He is an incredible entertainer—so funny, engaging, and enthusiastic! It is a fully hands-on experience where he keeps you constantly involved, making you do so many things yourself. What makes it truly special is his deep competence. Chef Suiji doesn't just show you how to cook; he explains the deeper meaning behind every step, the history of the culture, and the secrets of the traditional ingredients. We learned so much, had a blast, and of course, ate A LOT OF AMAZING FOOD! 🤩 Thanks for doing what you do and for spreading your authentic culture and passion. It is incredibly precious for people visiting Japan!!! ありがとうございました! — Christian & Mirko ✨

For us, Japanese cooking is not only about making good food, but also sharing the culture and stories behind it, so I’m really glad you enjoyed that part too. Thank you for spending your time with us in Kanazawa. We hope you had many more wonderful experiences during your trip in Japan! All the best, Seiji

Fun & delicious
We had an absolutely wonderful time here. The chef uses a live translation app, which makes communication very easy. Only fresh, high-quality ingredients are used for the dishes you prepare. Best of all, you get to enjoy everything you made afterwards. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for a fun and delicious time!
Response from the operator: Thank you for your kind words! It was a pleasure having you in our class. I’m glad the translation system made everything easy to follow, and that you enjoyed cooking with our fresh local ingredients. For us, the best part is seeing everyone enjoy the food they made together at the end. We hope you’ll cook some of the dishes again at home. Have a great rest of your trip, and we’d love to see you again if you ever come back to Kanazawa!

Hands-on & delicious fun
Chef Seiji is the best! Perfect balance of demonstration and hands-on. Food is delicious and I was very full! Also enjoyed learning cultural aspects about Japan. The AI translation was a big help - communication was fine. Highly recommend!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind review! I'm really happy to hear that you enjoyed the balance between watching and cooking. I always want everyone to spend more time cooking than just listening. It also means a lot to hear that you enjoyed learning about Japanese culture. Understanding the stories behind the food is just as important to me as learning the recipes. I'm glad the AI translation helped us communicate smoothly. It's become a great partner in our classes! Thank you again, and we hope to welcome you back to Kanazawa someday.

Best cooking class ever and fun too.
First of all I did not want to attend, but finally gave in and went with wifey. It was awesome… had so much fun and experience was great. Had a great meal after we prepared it ourselves along with some sake of course. Don’t miss out on this one.
Response from the operator: Thank you for your great review! I had to laugh when I read that you didn't want to come at first! I'm really glad your wife convinced you. 😊 It was a pleasure cooking with you both, and I'm happy you enjoyed the food, the sake, and the whole experience. Next time you're in Japan, please come and visit us again. We'll have another bottle of sake ready!

Kanazawa: Sushi & Japanese Cooking at a 56-Year Cooking School: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kanazawa.
How much does Kanazawa: Sushi & Japanese Cooking at a 56-Year Cooking School cost?
+
Prices start at $80 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kanazawa usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Kanazawa: Sushi & Japanese Cooking at a 56-Year Cooking School take?
+
Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kanazawa is not rushed.
Is Kanazawa: Sushi & Japanese Cooking at a 56-Year Cooking School worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 87 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 103 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most highly reviewed in Kanazawa, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Kanazawa: Sushi & Japanese Cooking at a 56-Year Cooking School?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Kanazawa: Sushi & Japanese Cooking at a 56-Year Cooking School suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Kanazawa: Sushi & Japanese Cooking at a 56-Year Cooking School?
+
Around 36 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kanazawa can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kanazawa and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Kanazawa: Sushi & Japanese Cooking at a 56-Year Cooking School start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kanazawa within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Kanazawa?
+
On Outty we rank every Kanazawa experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include World Heritage Shirakawa-go and Experience Tours from Kanazawa, Kanazawa Full Day Tour (Private Guide), Kanazawa Highlights: Garden, Castle, Samurai & Geisha+Taxi. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Kanazawa?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Kanazawa?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
