Kanazawa guided tour

We had a wonderful and fascinating guided tour in Kanazawa. The tour gave us a very interesting insight into the history and traditions of the geishas, how they were trained, how they lived, and the important role they played in Japanese society. We also had the opportunity to see some of the historic houses where they lived and worked. It was particularly interesting to learn about the connections between the geishas, the samurai, and the wealthy and powerful families who ruled the region during the Edo period. Our guide David Redula was very knowledgeable, friendly, and enthusiastic, bringing the history to life in an engaging and enjoyable way. We ended our wonderful tour with a delicious traditional Japanese meal at Fukuwauchi restaurant, which was a perfect way to round off the experience. Highly recommended.

Good Guide and Great Food

A helpful way to spend an evening

My guide David was really great, it ended up being a private tour because the 2 other guests were no-shows. he gave me interesting insights into the old town, provided some tips on what to eat at Omicho market the next morning, and he pointed out some shops i could visit the next day during the day time that sold more genuine local goods. I would say that the meal at the end was just average, maybe my expectations were too high. Overall i liked the night tour cos there's not much to do for a solo traveler in Kanazawa after the sunsets and shops close.

Night time Geisha district tour and a meal

We enjoyed the night time tour of the Geisha district and set menu multi course meal in a quaint restaurant. Saya, our guide was friendly, professional and knowledgeable. She met us at our hotel an accompanied us to the Geisha district in a taxi and back again at the end of the evening. The districts were very pleasant to walk around, easy walking in picturesque surroundings. Saya explained the history of the district and geishas the purpose of the different buildings. She also gave us tips for future day tine visits and other sites to visit. The meal was delicious. It was unlikely we would have found or tried that restaurant without Saya’s guidance. It was a very pleasant evening and the three hits went quickly. Thank you Saya.
