Jinshanling + Simitai + Gubei Water Town

This was a once in a lifetime experience! Dong Xuefei was so friendly and helpful, he knew all of the best spots to get pictures and provided some great snacks along the way! We did a 12:30 departure, with Jinshanling in the afternoon and Simitai / Gubei water town in the evening, which we would definitely recommend. The scenery in Jinshanling is breath taking and the lights in Gubei Water Town at night are magical. 5 stars!!

Exceptional Great Wall Experience with Gao Dapeng

Gao Dapeng, our driver, was wonderful. He was extremely professional, friendly, and considerate from start to finish. Even though he only spoke Chinese, he provided us with a translation device that made communication smooth and stress-free. Thanks to this, he was still able to share fascinating information about the history and culture of China, and he gave us very practical advice on how to explore the Great Wall more efficiently and enjoyably. His suggestions truly elevated our overall experience. He also prepared bottles of water and snacks for us, which was a thoughtful touch and made the journey even more comfortable. We felt well taken care of the entire time. We highly recommend Mr. Gao to anyone looking for a reliable and attentive driver, and we look forward to booking another trip with him in the future.

First choice for a Great Wall day trip from Beijing

Jinshanling is likely the most beautiful of the accessible sections of the wall. It is well worth the longer drive, to experience the Wall in peace, without the risk of getting your eye poked out by another tourists selfie-stick. The section of the Wall contains restored and unrestored parts, nestled in a lush, green national park. On our extensive walk (you can walk for miles) we only met a handful of other people. This section contains features not seen at other sections of the wall, such as hollow living towers and defensive walls on top of the wall. Despite the solitude the facilities are well appointed. There’s also a cable car going up to a section of the wall, but we chose the sloping ascent to a different part. Our guide Huang is a veritable fountain of information about the Great Wall. We learned a lot about the history and construction methods of the Great Wall! He even brought maps and photographs of other sections! He is also a very talented photographer! Our driver was very competent as well. All in all, I highly recommend this excursion!

Nice experience for first time visit

Really nice experience. This section of the wall is very beatiful landscape. Here are very less people, you can make nice photos here. Our driver Zhang Zhidong was very handsome and gave us good advices for the trip. We were picked up directly at our hotel and drove in a car with a large space. We had a free tour guide, who shown and explain us a lot of the Great Wall.

Jinshanling Great Wall Day Trip: Transfer or Guided Service: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Beijing.

How much does Jinshanling Great Wall Day Trip: Transfer or Guided Service cost?

    +

Prices start at $44 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Beijing usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Jinshanling Great Wall Day Trip: Transfer or Guided Service take?

    +

Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Beijing is not rushed.

Is Jinshanling Great Wall Day Trip: Transfer or Guided Service worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 15 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Beijing, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Jinshanling Great Wall Day Trip: Transfer or Guided Service?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Jinshanling Great Wall Day Trip: Transfer or Guided Service suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Jinshanling Great Wall Day Trip: Transfer or Guided Service?

    +

Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Beijing can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Beijing and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Jinshanling Great Wall Day Trip: Transfer or Guided Service start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Beijing within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Beijing?

    +

On Outty we rank every Beijing experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Mubus: Mutianyu Great Wall Bus Tour with Summer Palace Options, Beijing: Top 6 Highlights All Inclusive 2-Day Private Tour, Private Mutianyu Great Wall Trip With English-Speaking Driver. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Beijing?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Beijing?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
