    What you'll see and do

    1. Itaipu Dam

Built on the Paraná River near the border between Brazil and Paraguay, the Itaipu Dam is the largest operational hydroelectric power plant in the world. On this panoramic sightseeing tour from Foz do Iguaçu, you’ll tour this engineering marvel, which generates a power of 12,600 megawatts, approximately 25% of the electricity consumed by Brazil and 95% of the energy consumed by Paraguay. Your guided sightseeing tour gives you an up-close view of the Itaipu Dam and offers you the chance to take some great photos! Your knowledgeable guide will be happy to answer any questions you may have. On this tour you will do the Panoramic Tour. As the ticket is not included, you will pay for it on the spot.: * The Panoramic tour : Watch a documentary film on the power plant. See the dam and spillway from the central observation deck (without entering the facility). The grandeur of a plant built between two countries, when revealed in numbers, is surprising: the Itaipu dam is 7,919 meters long and 196 meters high. But when viewed from close up and from various angles in a tour around the Itaipu Panoramic, it impresses even more and guarantees a unique and striking experience. In addition to the privileged view of the spillway at the top of the dam, the path still allows contact with nature and beautiful landscapes within the Itaipu Tourist Complex. * The Technical tour cannot be done in this tour.

    AVOID AT ALL COSTS

This is not a tour but a taxi ride to the dam, where you have to pay for the entrance and tour when you get there. There was no sightseeing because all the driver did was picked us up from hotel and took to the dam. Do not get trapped in this scam.

    Very Expensive Transfer

The place is great to visit, but the price charged by Viator is very high for what is essentially a transfer from your hotel to the place and back. Once there, you pay an entry fee (definitely worth going for the more expensive internal tour, especially if you are interested in engineering). All of the time at the site is managed by the Itaipu Dam staff. Get a taxi there and save a lot!!

    Very good experience.

Great tour, the driver was very friendly and sharing a lot of cool details and open for any questions. He let me do the tour at my own pace, which is always good. I extremely recommend it. The dam is amazing and great place to visit.

Response from the operator: Dear Customer. Thanks a lot for the review. We are glad that you liked the tour. Please count on us on future trips. Thanks.

    A fairly good tour

This is a good place to visit if you have several days in Foz. I did like that we were on a few buses within the park, and that you get a very good view of the dam. It is the largest dam we have ever visited. They have a good souvenir shop also.

Response from the operator: Dear MapletonMay, Thank you for your review! We are glad you had a good time with us on our tour! We hope to see you again in future visits! Thank you.

Itaipu Dam Half-Day Sightseeing Panoramic Tour from Foz do Iguaçu: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Puerto Iguazu.

How much does Itaipu Dam Half-Day Sightseeing Panoramic Tour from Foz do Iguaçu cost?

    +

Prices start at $202 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Puerto Iguazu usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Itaipu Dam Half-Day Sightseeing Panoramic Tour from Foz do Iguaçu take?

    +

Plan for about 3.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Puerto Iguazu is not rushed.

Is Itaipu Dam Half-Day Sightseeing Panoramic Tour from Foz do Iguaçu worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 38 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.5/5 across 45 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Puerto Iguazu, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Itaipu Dam Half-Day Sightseeing Panoramic Tour from Foz do Iguaçu?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Itaipu Dam Half-Day Sightseeing Panoramic Tour from Foz do Iguaçu suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Itaipu Dam Half-Day Sightseeing Panoramic Tour from Foz do Iguaçu?

    +

Around 16 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Puerto Iguazu can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Puerto Iguazu and add a light layer if any part of the 3.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Itaipu Dam Half-Day Sightseeing Panoramic Tour from Foz do Iguaçu start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Puerto Iguazu within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Puerto Iguazu?

    +

On Outty we rank every Puerto Iguazu experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Small group Falls Both Sides - Argentina and Brazil, Best Private Tour Iguassu Falls Brazil, Argentina in 1 day, Argentine Experience: Immersive Dinner & Wine Pairing in Iguazú. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Puerto Iguazu?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Puerto Iguazu?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
