What you get
About this experience
Discover and enjoy the diversity of islands, villages and beaches of the Ria Formosa Natural Park in Olhão. Departing at 13:00h from Olhão, this tour goes through the canals in front of Olhão and to the Barrier Islands that protect the Ria Formosa. Following our course we´ll make a stop for lunch in Culatra, a fisherman's vilage with nearly 1000 residents whose main economic activity is fishing. The Island has all the infrastructures you would expect in a normal town; shops, restaurants, school, church, medical office and so on. During the break you can go for a nice lunch of fresh fish in one of the typical restaurants or go for a nice pic-nic at the beach. Afterwards we'll continue the tour and go to Farol island where we'll do another stop. Then return to Olhão passing close to several tuna factories and to the fishing harbour.

Very friendly informative tour
The tour guide Gonzalo was very knowledgeable & friendly. Very accommodating & flexible when timings on island did not go to plan due to food delay. The places that we visited were interesting.

Better go with a small boat
We could have enjoy our tour but… The guide was very kind and helpful but… Unfortunately a big group joined this tour for having fun ONLY, drinking heavily (wine, beer…) on board and making an incredible noise, making impossible to hear your guide explanations. Besides during the first stop of this tour, they returned to the boat 30 minutes late. Everybody else was on board waiting for them and loosing time. Why the boat did not leave on time with the respectuous passengers ??? Then the second stop at Farol has been reduced, unfortunately, by 30 minutes. Please confirm thes facts with the guide (your staff). When a big group wants to have fun and do what they want, they have to take a private boat and not make the tour of your others (correct people) clients spoiled.

A memorable experience
It was amazing experience. Silvia is an excellent guide. It was too windy and i dropped my cap in the ocean. Silvia helped me to get in our seventh attempt. I will highly recommend to take this tour with Silvia.

Why this scores 68
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Islands Tour: Half Day Cruise in Ria Formosa Natural Park: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Faro.
How much does Islands Tour: Half Day Cruise in Ria Formosa Natural Park cost?
+
Prices start at $30 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Faro usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Islands Tour: Half Day Cruise in Ria Formosa Natural Park take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Faro is not rushed.
Is Islands Tour: Half Day Cruise in Ria Formosa Natural Park worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 68 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 172 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Faro, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Islands Tour: Half Day Cruise in Ria Formosa Natural Park?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Islands Tour: Half Day Cruise in Ria Formosa Natural Park suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Islands Tour: Half Day Cruise in Ria Formosa Natural Park?
+
Around 60 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Faro can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Faro and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Islands Tour: Half Day Cruise in Ria Formosa Natural Park start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Faro within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Faro?
+
On Outty we rank every Faro experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Ria Formosa - Boat trip to the 3 Islands: Armona | Culatra Island | Lighthouse, From Faro: Benagil Cave, Marinha & Carvoeiro [Full-Day Tour], Ria Formosa Natural Park and Islands Boat Cruise from Faro. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Faro?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Faro?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
