Fun Outing in Sitka
Great guides. Beautiful setting. Even got to see a humpback! Definitely recommend doing.

Kayaking in Sitka
We were picked up right at the cruise terminal. It was a small group (6) which was perfect! Our guide, Charlie, is the owner of the company, so small, local business. He was very interactive, personable and friendly. He paddled between the pairs of us to chat and point things out. The weather was amazing and the scenery was so beautiful. We saw an eagle, a sea lion and lots of sea stars. If you are into small, intimate tours away from crowd this is it! Charlie also recommended Campfire Kitchen, which is a woodfire cooked pizza place. It was so good. And across the street is a place where you can buy locally sourced sea salt.

Kayaking in Sitka
We did not have a formal tour set up while in Sitka and the cruise line cost for a kayak tour was way too expensive the day before. Once we booked with a 3rd party, we got in touch with SAA to confirm details bc we had a limited time in port and they were very helpful and accommodating. They picked us up on time and the tour was amazing - sorry to say I forgot the guides name that took us but he was still in college. Aside from the amazing scenery, the tour was fantastic. Our guide was very personable, knowledgeable, helpful and all round cool guy. I highly recommend this company.

Serene Island Paddle
Excellent guided kayak tour around a few islands. Charlie did a great job, very low key and informative. We saw a seal, might expect limited wildlife encounters on most tours, but can be sure to enjoy the surrounding peaks from a unique and special water based view. Unlike icy point which the kayak was on open water, the winding island route was much more interesting and less stressful! Can highly recommended

Great staff, lack luster experience
we had a great tour guide, but I gotta say the excursion was a little lack luster. half of the tour was just paddling in and out of the commercial harbor, not so scenic and you're competing with commercial vessels in the water ways. would have been a better tour if the put-in and take-out were not in such a commercial and industrial area. Did not feel like we saw much in terms of marine or wildlife.

Is Island Discovery Kayak Paddle in Sitka, Alaska worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 77 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 33 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Sitka, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Island Discovery Kayak Paddle in Sitka, Alaska?
+

Is Island Discovery Kayak Paddle in Sitka, Alaska suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Island Discovery Kayak Paddle in Sitka, Alaska?
+
Around 12 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Sitka can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Sitka and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Island Discovery Kayak Paddle in Sitka, Alaska start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Sitka within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Sitka?
+
Sitka runs sea otter and whale quest boats, bear and raptor rescue centre visits, Tongass rainforest hikes, kayak paddles through the islands and Russian colonial history walks. On Outty we rank every Sitka experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include PREMIUM Sitka Scenic Tour, Best of Sitka Land Tour / Bears, Raptors, Totems, Sitka Whale Watching & Wildlife Adventure. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Sitka?
+
May to September. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Sitka?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
