Isla Mujeres Catamaran Tour with Open Bar, Lunch and Snorkeling

This was a total scam! I booked this through tripadvisor back in July. They were running a special if I booked by July 4th. I didn’t have to pay until the day before. Actually, payment was going to automatically be taken 24 hrs before but I decided to pay 48 hrs before to insure my payment method. Upon payment I received my ticket. I looked over the ticket to make sure it had the right amount of guests we booked and that the time was correct. I did not bother scrolling beyond that. Next day, I contacted the company to confirm our pick up time. After waiting a whole day for a response they inform me of the pickup time and that transportation will be an extra $15pp due to the distance. I communicated with them back in July where we were going to be staying and if they could transport us from our hotel and the only response I got at that time was “sure”. They new the location and never said anything about the additional cost. Upon hearing the distance of the excursion 2 of the 12 guests opted out of the trip. I confirmed that immediately and went on with my evening as I am already on my vacation and not looking at my phone much. The next morning and day of excursion, I check my phone to find a message that was sent that evening to not forget the additional $45pp for a dock fee and tax. This is on top of the booking fee I already payed . Then the additional amount for transportation. I then asked to cancel and the said they couldn’t because it was day of. They also inform me they cannot refund me because the information was on the ticket. I go back to the ticket and beyond the ticket and after a bit of scroIlingI find the info about the extra fees. I went back on my original booking on trip advisor and it clearly says no additional fees or tax. I sent a screen shot and they said that has nothing to do with them. That it refers to trip advisors fees and tax . Not theirs. I was so upset and over it that I ended up canceling the trip. They did refund me 1/2 of the total after I showed them the screenshot and accused them of false advertising. I think it’s very shady that none of this is communicated. Had I not contacted them about transportation and 2 of the guests cancelling we all would have had a big surprise showing up to the dock and having to pay an extra $60pp on top of what we already payed. Very shady business. Will not be booking through trip advisor again or maybe trip advisor needs to be more careful on who they deal with.

Take the ferry

My ears are still ring from the music. I asked for it to be turned down even a little. The guy told me to go to the other side of the boat The drinks, tequila type only, are undrinkable. The buffet average The beach club-don’t bother The snorkeling- no snorkel provided-don’t bother They will tout you to rent a golf cart Take the ferry. Go to north beach , maybe a one half mile walk, and stop at a good restaurant and bar along the way. You will thank me. The 3 of us skipped the ride back and took the ferry instead. Life is too short to have spent another hour on the catamaran. One last hint, NEVER give a credit card to a cab driver. And I mean never.

Good but overcharge for everything

They over charge for everything. Dock fee was just $15 but they charge $45 per person. Also for golf cart rental, they charge $60 but the charges over there was only $40. Ride and service itself was good.

Golf cart rentals are operated by independent vendors on the island, and prices can vary depending on the company, season, rental duration, and demand. The price you were offered was not set by us. I wish I took the local ferry cause this tour wasn’t it!

I had 12 in my group and I would say this is the first time I didn’t have a good time on a catamaran. The transportation to and from the destination was great! But the boat was way overpacked. We spent maybe 45 mins in Isla Mujeres and they took us to a beach club that had dirty daybeds and the water was murky and gross but warm. They ran out of food so fast that I didn’t even get chicken. The drinks on the boat tasted like juice and the only time I felt it was decent was at the very end when they played Follow the Leader. Overall, I wish I just went on the public ferry and saved money. The only thing is some of our family members did the snorkeling and they said they saw so many turtles and fish which was amazing to them.

Too hot for a two hour wait and pricey

Cost was high $90 at port and the first charge from this sight Two hours is too long on the south beach with no shops. Food was not very good.
