    About this experience

Set off on a sun-and-fun-packed day trip to charming Isla Mujeres, a must-see attraction just off the Cancun coast. Cruise on a modern catamaran while sipping a drink or two from the open bar on your way to and from the scenic island. You will even get a chance to snorkel at open sea, surrounded by colorful tropical fish. Upon arriving at Isla Mujeres, kick back and relax on one of the top beach clubs, where you also get to indulge a savory buffet lunch right next to the beach. Back on the catamaran, continue to Isla Mujeres' main town, where you can explore the cozy, colorful downtown area by foot, at your own pace. Whether you choose to do some shopping, walk around and take pictures, or visit the world-famous Playa Norte beach, you are guaranteed to have a blast. On your return to Cancun, take in the stunning sights of the coastline and seascape. If weather permits, try the spinnaker sail powered by the cool sea breeze, elevating you to 16 feet (5 meter) of altitude.

    Upgrade scam

The albatross agents up sales the experience but everyone received the same experience at the base price. They claimed there was an air-conditioned cabin aboard the vessel with the upgrade but there wasn't any... we found out once the vessel left the dock... this a scam... do not upgrade the service.

Response from the operator: Hello Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that the experience did not meet your expectations. We would like to clarify that the reservation purchased through us was for the standard tour package. The upgrade that you are referring to was offered and sold directly by the Albatros staff at the marina on the day of the activity. Unfortunately, we are not involved in the sale, management, or delivery of those upgrades, nor do we have control over the specific amenities or services offered as part of them. We understand your disappointment regarding the expectations created during the upgrade process, especially if the benefits described did not match the experience received onboard. However, the upgrade and any representations regarding additional amenities were handled directly by Albatros and not by our company. We appreciate you bringing this matter to our attention, and we will be sure to share your feedback with the tour operator so they can review how these optional upgrades are being presented to future guests. Thank you again for your comments, and we hope you were still able to enjoy the overall experience despite this inconvenience Best regards

We were advised by the captain of the boat that there is a federal regulation against people, snorkeling if they are younger than 10 years old or older than 60 years old. Ourselves included, there were several groups on the boat that just did not know about this up until the point when it was time for everybody to start snorkeling. This wasn’t the snorkeling company’s fault, I don’t think. Viator just didn’t mention it at any point in the booking process. Also, you have to bring your own towels. If you don’t bring your own towels, they are happy to sell you towels for $30-$40 apiece. When we went to the island, we were among five or six other boats that were there. Not a huge deal, the facilities did not seem overwhelmed. However, the dock clearly was. They did not have a system for figuring out how to get boats loaded and unloaded when only three boats could be docked at a time when there were six boats worth of people ready to go and come. No exaggeration, we watched this process take place for about 25 to 30 minutes before we were able to get back on our boat in order to leave. Not a great feeling when you’ve spent six hours in the sun with kids, especially after dealing with all of the other disorganizations/miscommunications that arose. In general, the captain and the crew were pretty good. They definitely kept us lightened up with drinks.

Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We genuinely appreciate your feedback and are sorry to hear about the miscommunications you encountered during your trip. We understand that the federal regulation regarding age limits for snorkeling was an unexpected surprise for you, and we agree that this should have been communicated earlier. It’s great to hear that the captain and crew helped maintain a lighthearted atmosphere and we’ll continue to ensure our team brings that positive energy to every trip. We’ll certainly take your points into consideration as we work to improve our services, and hope we’ll have the chance to welcome you back for a smoother experience in the future.

The crew were very freindly and kept up the supply of drinks. The food was good. All in all a great experience.

    Loved this experience!

This catamaran was so much fun! Highly recommend. So many alcoholic beverages and so many pitchers of beer going around the entire time. Good music! Snorkeling was mid & didn’t see too much but the tour around Isla Mujeres was so nice. I will say didn’t enjoy getting bombarded by so many islanders trying to sell you so many things, I understand this how they make a living but very unnecessarily aggressive. Buffet style food was included and it was delicious!

Isla Mujeres Catamaran Sailing Experience with Lunch & Open Bar: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cancun.

How much does Isla Mujeres Catamaran Sailing Experience with Lunch & Open Bar cost?

    +

Prices start at $59 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cancun usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Isla Mujeres Catamaran Sailing Experience with Lunch & Open Bar take?

    +

Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cancun is not rushed.

Is Isla Mujeres Catamaran Sailing Experience with Lunch & Open Bar worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 51 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3.6/5 across 17 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cancun, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Isla Mujeres Catamaran Sailing Experience with Lunch & Open Bar?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Isla Mujeres Catamaran Sailing Experience with Lunch & Open Bar suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Isla Mujeres Catamaran Sailing Experience with Lunch & Open Bar?

    +

Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cancun can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cancun and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Isla Mujeres Catamaran Sailing Experience with Lunch & Open Bar start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cancun within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cancun?

    +

On Outty we rank every Cancun experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Early Access to Chichen Itza All Inclusive with Valladolid and Cenote Swim, Whale Shark Tour from Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum and Riviera Maya, Small-Group 3 Hidden Cenotes Adventure with Tequila Tasting. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cancun?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cancun?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
