Not quite the experience we thought we were getting.

We booked a private driver for two days - Day 1 was Isle of Skye and Day 2 was Inverness to Edinburgh with two options to choose between. We had not heard from Andrew upon arrival so we double-checked (this was after payment, etc.) and he had forgotten about our change of dates and had us at a different time. He sent someone in his place (Roger), who was delightful as a guide, but there was a definite miscommunication in what we had arranged with Andrew in regards to stops and time to do a little hiking around and picture taking. While we did make a few stops the first day, several of them were 5-10 minutes and pictures only and some places we were expecting to see we did not see at all. Day 2 was the biggest disappointment. Roger thought our transport was just back to the airport so that was a clear miscommunication on behalf of Andrew. It was somewhat straightened out but we only stopped for one walk about (13 minutes) going through Glencoe (Glencoe was recommended by Roger as his favorite area). Otherwise, we also got a bathroom stop, a lunch stop, some drive-bys, and the Kelpies (which we had no interested in seeing). Roger had told us he had some "surprises" planned, so our expectation was "just hold on," because the best was coming. We arrived back at our hotel much earlier than expected, and while what we saw was beautiful, we expected to STOP and get quality pictures, at the very least. I don't want to hold on to negative memories of this trip, but we were disappointed in our tour and that being our last day, it left a bit of a sour note. I do want to caution anyone booking with this company that if your expectation is more than drive-bys and fast stops, you might want to book somewhere else and DEFINITELY send regular reminders so you aren't lost in the shuffle.

    Inverness to Portree Private Transfer

Andy our driver with Highland Discovery Tours was wonderful. He was very friendly, helpful and informative. He always helped my 82 year old husband in and out of the van when we stopped. He offered to take pictures of the two of us at the tourist sites. He even helped us with our luggage up to our room in our hotel in Portree when they didn't have and elevator.

Fantastic service and perfect holiday start

I checked several transport options from Inverness and one of the first things that made Taxi company worth noticing was the speed of reply and clear and concise answers Everything went smooth, the drive and dialogue was so full of information, making it the perfect beginning of the holiday. Would gladly book again with them whenever I am in Inverness/Skye area

Response from the operator: thank you so much for allowing us to be part of your holiday

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Inverness.

How much does Inverness Private Direct Transfer to Isle of Skye cost?

    +

That score blends traveler sentiment (4.3/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Inverness, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Inverness Private Direct Transfer to Isle of Skye?

How far in advance should I book Inverness Private Direct Transfer to Isle of Skye?

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Inverness can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Inverness and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Inverness Private Direct Transfer to Isle of Skye start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Inverness within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Inverness?

    +

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Inverness?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Inverness?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
