    About this experience

Welcome to one of Europe's largest and most vibrant castles. The castle is HM the King's official residence and essential parts of the monarchy's representation take place here, while large parts of the castle are open all year round. Located in Gamla Stan or The Old Town, The Royal Palace of Stockholm has more than 1,400 rooms, 11 floors, and only 1 balcony. The Palace is also the largest official Royal residence in Europe, even larger than Buckingham Palace in London. There are many attractions here - the Treasury with the royal regalia, Museum Three Crowns about the castle's medieval history, and not least the Representation floors with the pompous parade rooms. During the summer months, Gustav III's antiquities museum and the Castle Church are also open. The changing of the guards is popular with visitors, as is the Slottsboden shop.

    Great tour with fantastic guide!

My husband and I booked Fer for a private tour of the Royal Palace. Her communication prior to the tour was clear, efficient and detailed via email. During the tour, she was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the palace and was able to answer all of our questions regarding the history of Sweden. She was also very adept at avoiding the large tour groups who were crowding certain rooms, so the tour always had the feel of being private. I would 100% recommend Fer for any tour!

Art, History and Current Events Explained Through the Palace

The Stockholm Palace is alive with activity and so interesting as it is a modern day palace, in use by the current Royal Family. Our guide wove facts and stories seamlessly between history and current events. Interesting and beautiful. Our tour made us appreciative of Sweden’s past as well as their future.

    Where was my guide

We arrived at the meeting place that was given to me. Our guide never showed up. The tour was to end at the meeting place. We waited there to see what happened and if we could take the next tour. We never saw anyone connected with the tour. I want my money back!

Response from the operator: Dear Cathy I am deeply sorry about this confusion. I got 2 bookings from you and a cancellation (back to back), that is why I assumed you totally cancelled the tour. If you are still in town, I would love to guide you at the Royal Palace, free of charge of course. My sincere apologies for this mistake. This is the first time ever, that something like this has ever happened due to the double booking and cancellation received from you. I have requested an immediate and full refund of your tour so you should get it through Viator (I already got an email confirmation from them confirming they are processing the full refund to you). Again my sincere apologies for this confusion, and I hope I can make it up to you. Fer

Inside The Crown: Stockholm Royal Palace Private Guided Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Stockholm.

How much does Inside The Crown: Stockholm Royal Palace Private Guided Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $180 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Stockholm usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Inside The Crown: Stockholm Royal Palace Private Guided Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 1.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Stockholm is not rushed.

Is Inside The Crown: Stockholm Royal Palace Private Guided Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 63 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 25 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Stockholm, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Inside The Crown: Stockholm Royal Palace Private Guided Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Inside The Crown: Stockholm Royal Palace Private Guided Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Inside The Crown: Stockholm Royal Palace Private Guided Tour?

    +

Around 9 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Stockholm can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Stockholm and add a light layer if any part of the 1.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Inside The Crown: Stockholm Royal Palace Private Guided Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Stockholm within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Stockholm?

    +

On Outty we rank every Stockholm experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Stockholm: Walking Tour of the Old Town, Best of Stockholm: Small Group Walking Tour (Max 10, 3 Hours), Vasa Museum Guided Tour, Including Ticket & Guide. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Stockholm?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Stockholm?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
