I went into this experience so excited after reading the other reviews. But I was very mistaken. I thought this would help ease my Peru experience. But it just made it more confusing. I should of just booked these activities on my own individually. The first signs of a bad experience was the lack of communication of the tour company. I had no instructions on what to bring or where to be. I was finally told about 12 hours before where to meet. When I arrived I had discovered that I wasn't allowed to bring my bags (this will be a problem later). So I was rushed to get ready in 5 minutes for a 3 day excursion with just my day pack. At this time I also realized that I was passed on to a 3rd party company. I never even met with anyone that worked at Ritisuyo. This caused many problems in finding out how I was going to fulfill my activities later. All of the guest with the group that I joined were allowed to bring extra bags and clothes. Although I payed for an English experience, the entire group was spoken to in Spanish. The guide knew English, he just chose to ignore me. Which was very frustrating when trying to understand instructions. The first day I was told the whitewater rafting had been cancelled because of weather. I totally understand that weather is uncontrollable. But It had been cancelled for over a week and I was just told the day of. Very dishonest of the company because was the main reason I booked the tour. I would of chose a different tour if I knew this, and I think this is what they figured as well. The 2nd day ziplining was cancelled as well. And instead my guide put me in a cab solo, and was driven an hour to meet up with yet another group of people and tour guide that were on their own agenda. I was to follow them to Macchu Pichu. Oscar was a better guide than my first one. He was very knowledgeable and cared about my experience. He is the only reason I raised the review from one star to two. Ofcourse this whole new group had extra dry clothes they were allowed to bring and here I was soaking wet already and only half way through the tour. Oscar was great about getting us to Machhu Pichu first. After we arrived back in Cusco at around 10pm I made my way to the office where I was forced to leave my possessions the day we left. It was locked. It took about 2 more hours before finally someone came and unlocked it so I could get my dry clothes. Skip this company. Just book with Macchu Pichu Reservations(the company I was outsourced to). That way you are priority and given all the info you need instead of just the "we have to figure out what to do with him now" attitude.
Response from the operator: Hello. First of all, I want to apologize in name of all our team because we know that we did have a problem of miscommunication. As I could inform you before, the month of February, most of our staff is on vacation so, that is why, we had a chaotic month but even though, we manage to organize all our excursions. As a new company we have a lot of thing to work on for the future and now we know that the rainy season is definitely not the best period of the year to operate in the mountain. I am also guide and I know how difficult things could turn out when we have an awful weather. From next year, we are not going to operate on February because that is the worst month of the year in terms of weather. Machupicchu reservation is one of our partners and, as you can see, the price for the Inca Jungle is 20 USD lower than their price. We are not able to operate all our excursions and you didn’t know that because of the lack of communication which, once again, I feel so sorry. I totally understand your review, we will work so, this is not going to happen again.
