Fabulous five day walk in the majestic Ikara - Flinders Ranges, SA

I had a great time on the Ikara - Flinders Ranges walk with Park Trek. Each day we walked through varied landscapes, including in dry river beds, through gorges, along ranges, and amongst old station ruins. The scenery was wonderful, the guides friendly, engaging and knowledgeable, the meals nutritious and tasty, and my fellow walkers great companions. We met with an indigenous elder who gave us a wonderful insight into the cultural history and significance of the land over millennia. So good to get away from it all in such an iconic rugged landscape!

Response from the operator: Thanks for the lovely review of your recent Ikara - Flinders Ranges walk. It was so great to see the verdant green after this wet autumn. The region really was particularly spectacular. We are glad you walked with us and we hope to walk with you again soon. All the best and safe travels, Charles & The Park Trek Team 🌿😊🥾

Best way to see this ancient land

This was an excellently organised trip - starting with suggested fitness program prior to leaving. Continuous days of medium/hard walking through stunning countryside made easier by beautiful environment. We lucked in with the weather - prior rainfall resulting in bright green in an otherwise arid land, with stunning geology. The guides knew the land well & managed our mixed-ability group with care. And there were additions to the trekking - like meeting with & learning from an Adnyamathanha elder. Food was plentiful & tasty . Accommodation - great. Sleeping in the same bed each night - excellent.

Response from the operator: What a beautiful review of your recent Ikara - Flinders Ranges walk with Park Trek. It was great to walk with you and indeed the talk with Kristian Coulthard from Wadna was one of the highlights - providing beautiful insights to the history and culture of the region. We hope to walk with you again soon. Best wishes and safe travels, Charles & The Park Trek Team 🌿🥾😊

Trekking with camels through the Flinders Ranges was an experience I’ll never forget.

Trekking with camels through the Flinders Ranges was an experience I’ll never forget. Our guide, Ryan, really knew his stuff—not just about the camels, but the local history, geology, astronomy, and wildlife. We helped to prep and load the camels every morning, it didn't take long to start noticing who the characters were. The daily hikes weren't too intense as the camels don’t walk that fast, though we were walking in rocky creek beds and some damp weather. When we arrived at our camping spot, we'd roll out the swags, gather firewood, then settle down around the campfire, and watch Ryan (our tour leader) cook up a feast. I highly recommend this trip if you're looking for something out of the ordinary.

Response from the operator: Thanks for taking the time to write such a great review of your recent Flinders walk with camels. It is such a beautiful place and Ryan’s knowledge and passion is priceless. We hope to walk with you again. Safe travels and all the best, Charles & The Team from Park Trek🌿🥾😊

Flinders and Beyond Camel Trek

Trekking with camels in the Flinders Ranges was a unique and memorable experience. The cameleer, Ryan, was extremely knowledgeable on camels as well as the geology, astronomy, flora and fauna of the area. Each day we were able to participate in preparing the camels for the day and soon discovered their individual personalities. The daily walking was relatively easy with challenges over some rocky surfaces and warm temperatures. Bush camping each night saw us setting up swags prior sitting around the camp fire sharing excellent meals. The food was plentiful and enjoyed under the stunning stars of outback Australia. I highly recommend this trip for anyone wanting to experience something a little different.

Response from the operator: Thanks for taking the time to write this lovely review of your recent Park Trek Walk with Camels in the Northern Flinders Ranges. It is such a special place, with magnificent landscapes, glorious sunrises and sunsets, spectacular starlit skies, and of course great company, connection and food. We are so happy you got to enjoy this once in a lifetime and memorable experience (unless of course you choose to do it again)! We hope to walk with you again soon, All the best from the team at Park Trek🌿😊🥾.

Ikara-Flinders Ranges Hiking Tour - 5 Days: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Adelaide.

How much does Ikara-Flinders Ranges Hiking Tour - 5 Days cost?

+

Prices start at $3450 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Adelaide usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Ikara-Flinders Ranges Hiking Tour - 5 Days take?

+

Plan for about 120 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Adelaide is not rushed.

Is Ikara-Flinders Ranges Hiking Tour - 5 Days worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 16 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable outdoors in Adelaide, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Ikara-Flinders Ranges Hiking Tour - 5 Days?

+

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Ikara-Flinders Ranges Hiking Tour - 5 Days suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 15. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 120-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Ikara-Flinders Ranges Hiking Tour - 5 Days?

+

Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Adelaide can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Adelaide and add a light layer if any part of the 120-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Ikara-Flinders Ranges Hiking Tour - 5 Days start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Adelaide within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Adelaide?

+

On Outty we rank every Adelaide experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Premium Barossa Small Group Tour: Wine tasting, Lunch & Chocolate, Discover Barossa: 4 Wine Tastings, Gourmet Lunch, and Hidden Gems, Adelaide Highlights, Hahndorf & McLaren Vale Wine Tasting and Sightseeing Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Adelaide?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Adelaide?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
